Caucasian to Black (white to black)
I'm having a difficult time making the skin tone of Eggbox look like that of a black person. It seems as if the best I can do using curves is a burnt white guy, not very convincing to say the least. Any suggestions or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know why you would want Eggbox to have dark skin, but you would do it with curves. Just like you would match colors when compositing parts from two separate images. The trick, if you can call it that, is that black skin is not black. It is yellow from melanin pigment.

Use a mask to limit the changes to the skin and adjust the blue curve to strongly increase the yellow and darken it. Then, individually adjust the other channels to balance and then adjust the RGB composite. Tweak the saturation with a hue/saturation adjustment if you need to do so. Adjust the features with liquify if you want it to appear more non-white (whatever that means).

Here's an example. This is Eggbox from an alternate universe where everyone is dark skinned and permanently stuck in the 70s.

This is something I have to do a lot: taking images of sportsmen's bodies (footballers, boxers etc) and then making them either black or white to match the new heads. I use Curves to do this: when turning people black, a fair amount of green is needed. I expect this equates to Bob's melanin pigment.

Just a thought. How would I go about turning a black guy white? I have tried various methods including Lab colour space but I cannot get a good "white" skin.
I'm sure the problem is quite easy to solve but I just can't think of the solution.

Turning black to white is relatively easy: just use Curves to brighten the skin, if necessary adding a little blue to the mix. Try it, it works.

Be sure to watch out for glaring white fingernails, though!
