Adding Images
My goodness this is embarrassing, but I've searched and searched, I've tried the HTML I would use in a flickr discussion, but I'm buggered if I can work out how to upload images to this forum.

Can you help out this poor inadequate netizen, and if you know how to program video recorders, that would be a bonus. ;-)

Hi Trevor,

You don’t need to but I usually flatten my image and save it separately as a jpg. Then go to Image>Image Size and reduce the longest side to around 850 or 900 pixels. Now go to File>Save for Web. When the dialogue box opens you will see a File Size figure at the bottom left. You need to get that figure below 100kb. To do that look up at the Quality setting high on the right. Click on that and adjust the slider until that figure is below 100kb.
Now save it and you can post that image by logging on and find ‘Attach Image’ on the dialogue box. This will give you a browser to locate your image.

With Save for Web you might find that the quality is less than that of your original image. When this happens I sometimes post a link to the previously saved jpg using Photobucket or some other image hosting service.

Hope this helps.

Gordon
ps I'm a real wizz at programming video recorders.........so if you would like to send me the airfare to NZ, otherwise known as God's Country, I would be pleased to pop over and help?

Re: Adding Images
So we can't link to images via an external URL? They all reside on Steve's server using his bandwidth? What about hyperlinks? I am not sure if I have seen any on the site to date.

BTW I did try using the attachment option and with a small enough file size, but it would not let me preview the post so I gave up.

Thanks for your help. I appreciate it. I can't stand you the airfare, but we are always pleased of a chance to show off our country.

Re: Adding Images
Hi Trevor,

Such a shame about the airfare I was really looking forward to re-visiting my fave country and doing a spot of video recorder programming - ah well!

If you open an account (free) with an image hosting service such as Photobucket you can link directly to the image. Just upload a photograph and then click on the hyperlink, copy it and paste it into the HTCIP dialogue box when you make a post. The freebie service will let you upload a 1 Mb file. I believe that you can pay for a facility to upload larger file sizes.

There are other image hosting sites available, such as Imageshack, but I don't subscribe so can't comment. Other members may be able to tell you which ones they use.

Thank's Geoff. I have a flikr account so I'll try the various link options. This montage of a seven foot Chinaman in Union Square demonstrates why I have been endevouring to learn how perspective and eye-lines work. I liked the irony in this as I shot the two elements on oposite sides of the globe.

Bulb Changer? by Trevor Dennis, on Flickr

Yeah! It worked. Flickr changed it's interface recently, and I had to change the share code from the HTML to the BBCode option. And it's already Friday here, so I hope SC uploads something easy this week. :-)

Great shot Trevor, and Gordon, Trevor is in Blenheim, just over the hill from here, so you can visit both of us.
