The government has decided that in today's economy there is no room for non-revenue generating historical sites.

Excuse me, I might be wrong..

Sorry later I had to do a bit of a study for this transparency. This is as tough as the Damian Hurst, or tougher(?) I would suggest its about 45 degrees angle of incidence (water/air) i.e. less reflects, more can be transparent, but only if smooth and light penetrates/emits. Here is photo I took over the sea to illustrate viz: looking towards horizon, sky reflected, look down see the seabed (not deep here). (Only slightly enhanced with vibrance. NB: the shadow is the plane I am on over Baltics i.e. not PS'd ))

See Nick's and also see John's image, I think they gets it perfect(????-ish:; o))... including the subtle reflections, great Nick and good fun John

Variant, it depends on relative emmited light levels too ....

Interesting with the clouds there Trevor...that is the question, what will be reflected. Looks rather straight forward...or is it? I only notice 2 pictures (maybe 3 or 4) clearly reflecting the wall on the right Would it be there? I dont know (depends on the water level mostly)...maybe send Nick back there with a Fire Truck or two to fill it up

Re: Challenge 276: Fill the moat
Brendan, you're right, my comment just relates to "final" step.

I am not sure we were taught this (Steve tell me off), but many of us seem to have taken same approach. (no comment why I know ). Each orthoganl section of the building needs to be transformed (distort) after vertical flip )(noting one part is not on the tower, and even the final wall. Thanks Nick!). Merge them together and then mess around with the new layer re my comment: the final step! (I faulted with my layers, but excuse, just proof of concept and I was having a laugh, re moats etc, crooks . I'll get the pen out next time, never fails on my part, apart from a litle bit slower).

Bring on the Heavy Rock!! Trevor

Re: Challenge 276: Fill the moat
J'ai été aidé par un gentil copain du forum sur un point particulier... Il avait raison, et moi tort!
Thank you Jota!
Alors voilà ma seconde image.
Comme je sais qu'il n'est pas conseillé de poster plusieurs images, je demande à ce que la première soit effacée...
Merci!

Thanks Trevor
Creating the reflections is far from straightforward, particularly the left hand section. Also, the darker brick on that gateway tower is at a higher level than the darker brick in the rest of the moat. The water would keep to the level of the brick line and I assume it was level (no spirit level with me!). I studied quite a few filled moat images before I attempted my entry. It's quite amazing how the water takes on a different form / colour depending on the weather and if the moat is exposed. In secluded situations, the water is not subject to much wind, so there should be very little turbulence, if any at all. Given the depth of the water, I doubt very much whether you would see anything under the surface and Steve made reference to this when we did the harbour challenge, i.e. the hole in the wall some months back. I find visualising what something will look like, particularly reflections, very difficult, so I look for images of a similar thing to get an idea. I found the tutorial re creating water in the sand pit very useful for this one.

Nick

Re: Challenge 276: Fill the moat
The 'count the bricks' or 'follow the dark line because the grass could be lumpy' theory. I gave that alot of thought...and came to the conclusion that with all this rain you been having there it should be full now and requires more photos
