This french was done with the help of google, I do hope it makes sense.

For this portrait, Nick claims to have commissioned Swedish rococo pastelist Gustaf Lundberg. But something is fishy. Can you ascertain the bungle?

You are all so good....
J'ai eu honte de mon pauvre montage, alors voilà l'idée qui me trottait en tête depuis le début.....

Pauvre Zidane... Mais il s'est essuyé les crampons sur pire!

Thank you everyone for your comments. Ive learnt quite a bit about the man last few days....interesting

I bet he will regret ever posting that image on Facebook if he ever sees what we have done to him

Ben Nick and Vib...excellent work. Lonnie - dont think the Eiffel tower was in the background on the original painting. Beautifully done though.

Thanks Anna and Sophie
The work on here this week is superb.

Lonnie, that's a wonderful piece of work, with consistent colour and texture across the whole piece. I'd love you to show us the start image and talk us through the steps. Great image.

Nick

Re: Challenge 277: Sarkozy in history
Thank you, Vibeke ("This is brilliant"), as is yours. Seems we both had similar ideas, though your Napoleon was probably a better choice.

Thank you too, Tooquilos ("Lonnie - dont think the Eiffel tower was in the background on the original painting. Beautifully done though.") True , neither the tower, nor Nicholas, was in the original. I added the tower simply to suggest France. But it could have been there. Right??? Your animation is, as usual, a welcome treat. I've never done an animation. You set the level very high.

Nick wrote, "Lonnie, that's a wonderful piece of work, with consistent colour and texture across the whole piece. I'd love you to show us the start image and talk us through the steps. Great image." Thank you kindly. I love your convincing comp of post-war world leaders.

I've attached the source images I used. The comp was rather straight-forward. I flipped Sarkozy to better match light direction, fit his masked face over Natoire's, adjusted color/contrast to match (mostly curves, diffuse glow, noise), added the masked Paris background, subtle brushing with Impressionist and a global canvas texture.

Thought I would make an attempt this week up against all the fantastic work here by all you guys.
I would have liked to have taken a longer, but no time unfortunately. Thanks to 'Life' for the Hitler pic.
