Challenge 280: Global warming
This week's Challenge is based on the intriguing and ingenious promotion that is the Ice Bear Project, run by the WWF. A life-size sculpture of a polar bear is sited in Trafalgar Square, in London, made entirely of ice. Over the next week or so it will gradually melt, revealing the bronze polar bear skeleton concealed inside it. You can just make out part of the skull beginning to show through the ice. As a graphic depiction of the effects of global warming, the idea is a touch of genius; and the execution is immaculate. You can read more about the project here, and there's even a live video feed of the ice melting away. My thanks to Brian Skilton for the original photograph. So your Challenge is this: how will the bear look after a few days of strong December sunshine? This isn't an easy task - where on earth will you find images of a polar bear skeleton? High res is here. 
Important notice: next week It's been brought to my attention that next Friday is Christmas day, which is surely not a day for turning on computers. So I'll be writing up this Challenge on Thursday, and posting the new Challenge then. You have a day less than usual for this one! |

*Just a note to say apologies for not being as active as I would have liked I usually get a project started and then find I don't have the time to complete which is why the moat challenege and the pub challenege I was conspicious by my absence although I have the files on my computer but only part done. With a bit more time off from work over Christmas I hope to get stuff in on time. Love Becky |

Sorry bit off topic, but today is my Mother's 83rd birthday and over the phone managed to get her to see all the Steve links and the work from us from her PC. She likes what she sees, and you guys! Josephine she has a cat like yours, so imagine ....! |

Good one, will try to participate this week. Got Sarkozy post processing going - wanted to put him into the "300" movie look, but then got so carried away hired and photographed a model instead of Sarkozy and ended up doing the "300" composite out of 18 photographs just to realize it devoured my all free time. I will have to do something simple for this one - otherwise I get carried away and end up doing nothing/being late. |
