Challenge 301: The unwinding head
I've just done a tutorial on the 'unwinding ribbon' effect devised by M C Escher, and I think it's an interesting technique for us all to have a go at.

Taking this head as a starting point, can you unwind it in the most appealing way possible? I'll post the location of my tutorial next week, so you can compare your version with my own attempt.

High res is here.

I know Escher is a Dutchman but that's all what's equal to me.
Steve, thanks for this mindblowing assignment!!

This should be a goodie. Just hope that I have time this week. I'm sure I had more spare time when I wasn't retired!

Some nice entries last week.

God, I have no idea how to go about doing this. Should be interesting to say the least.

I was inspired when I saw Pete's work! It was brilliantly executed!
I thought this challenge was very hard to execute but once you visualize it, it would be a lot easier. It took me half the time to complete this compared to previous challenges (probably because I did not hunt for extra images). They used a serrated knife to cut her. OUCH! Here it is:

She really needs to pull herself together!

Interesting challenge Steve. I had no idea whatsoever how I was going to approach this. But once I started it seemed to unfold quite naturally.

Nice one Bruce! and all! Believe it or not I was thinking a similar direction on how to unpeel, but no conclusion. Saved! Bruce your solution and execution is excellent, including context.
Hope I can get something in, ..busy..and need to explore ideas more...

Thanks for the comments, they are profoundly appreciated. And I'd like to say how truly grateful I am that this forum has harnessed my absurdist worldview for peaceful purposes.
