Not sure this works. A trubute to Fastnet lighthouse and all who died in the yatch/sail race and others. At least it stands stong now (history)

Re: Challenge 307: The bay window
My last image too boring.
So deleted

Do you know, you wake up in the morning, when you meet the day, full of energy. Enjoy every day. I do. Never stops, but people in this world always want to take "it" from me/us something which not even understood. Hurts. I don't care, apart from tears......." look into my eyes and you will see the sun/son".... Get out on the Jota 120 and it will take you around the world, plus a 747 (love) in hand when go to China and Oz, but cycling and running are my passion, persosnal energy (53miles/108miles), I know that well, not such a good climber now.

(not the original) Just like a summer shower, it evaporates into the air and is never there again and comes back again

Fabulous entries. I too ditched my first attempt which was meant to be a Sauna, it just did not work so came up with this one instead, which in fact, took me less time.

Re: Challenge 307: The bay window
just realised I sadly won't have time to do this week's challenge. Nice entries all round and a lovely banner from Nick - is it a 'how to create in photoshop' job?

Like Eva, I'm regrettably not able to take part but I have hugely enjoyed this week's entries. Another nice challenge Steve.

Love your banner Nick.

Re: Challenge 307: The bay window
Astoundingly good work this week. I don't know if was the subject matter, but it's been a while since we've seen such a consistently high standard - and so many truly inspired entries.

First off was GKB, with an immaculately reconstructed turret - I particularly like the way the interior has been build to match. The wooden base is a great match, too, and the Rapunzel figure fits perfectly. One small thing - the shadow beneath the turret is just a touch too strong for a sunless day! But an inspiring start to the week.

A splendid fortune-telling booth from tooquilos, beautifully lit and filled with velvet curtains - and I like the Pillow Embossed logo on the front. And a great choice of music in the animated version. When was it that these booths stopped being fun, and became sinister?

A thoroughly convincing carriage lamp from Nick Curtain, with very subtle lighting effects: the faint soft edge on the front of the bay, the excellent highlights on the interior, the dazzling bulb. Nick, this is faultless!

A most impressive lighthouse from LonnieK, with Lonnie's trademark beautiful lighting really bringing this one to life. The lighting on the bay window is a perfect match for the background and the base of the original lighthouse, and the added lens flare adds just the right degree of integration with the scene.

A great news stand from Stefano Giacomuzzi, with embossed lettering on the front and a newspaper seller reaching out of it. I like the board, too, with all the magazines fixed to it - as well as a copy of the book. The only thing that needs attention here is the perspective, which is a little awkward: the top and bottom of the board need to follow the lines set by the buildings in the background. Draw some lines along these and you'll find the vanishing point, which should really help. Otherwise, a great job.

Clever work from brewell, who has turned the single bay window into a string of carriages - perfectly elongated, and filled with circus animals. I like the combination of the clown and the shire horses, and the way the shadows tie the scene to the ground. Cool giraffe, too!

An ornate tower on an already very ornate sandcastle from vibeke - a good match! I am going to take you to task on your perspective, though. We're looking up at the bay window - the middle of the top edge is higher than the sides - but, according to the horizon (which we know is on our eye level) we should be looking down on it. Tricky stuff, perspective!

A first entry from forum newcomer micky47, who has removed the windows to turn the window into an outdoor stage - but one that's in the shape of a coffee cup, and filled with coffee. The extra detail of the handle on the side is a great touch, and the velvet curtains frame the dancer perfectly. I like the fact that she's up to her knees in the coffee, but she appears to be too far forward in the cup: hide her legs a little higher so she appears to be standing in the middle of the cup. I think your Photoshop skills are certainly better than you give yourself credit for, though. Welcome to the forum!

A touch of ballooning from Josephine Harvatt, with a Victorian fantasy very much in the Jules Verne tradition. I like the way it's floating here, an dthe extra pinnacles - but is the pilot just a touch too low? Either that, or he has very short legs.

A very emotive image from Jota120, the window merged into a lighthouse that's become a dripping candle... I really like the way the tower is melting like so much hot wax. Great lighting, too - but would the exterior of the structure be as bright as that? An interesting second entry, seeing the candle in close-up - but we can also see some mismatched joins just to the left of centre. Oops!

A charming Japanese construction from james, the window transformed into a bonsai-pretecting pagoda. A great roof, perfect rounding of the window - and, of course, it's the beautiful animation of the doves that really brings the image to life. James, your mastery of animal movement is getting better all the time: the motion of those doves, both sitting and in flight, is immaculate.

A charming fairy tale from Emil, with a cartoon sun and moon cosying up in an evening-coloured night chamber. Beautiful! But with the sun and the moon both inside, where is the light coming from?

A superb aquarium from Jan in France, sitting neatly in the ornate wood-panelled room. The blending of the Victorian bay window with the Art Nouveau panelling (and very splendid it is, too) works really well. The perspective is a good match for the room, and I like that we can just see the top of the water inside the aquarium. A great image - good work, Jan!

Really fantastic work from everyone this week. Congratulations to all of you.

Really enjoyed this one, but think it was more technically challenging than the car window last week. A great exercise in perspective. At first glance it looks simple enough to rebuild the wooden arches for the interior, until you try to flip them from all angles and they still don't fit. Image warp to the rescue and perhaps a tutorial in the next edition??.

Sophie and Eva, many thanks for the kind comments on the banner. Yes is was a 100% photoshop based approach. Great book and the team at work actually thought the screws were real!
