Re: Challenge 668: Agent Orange
A good beach scene from Ben Mills, with the orange thing making a fine seat. I initially thought there was something odd about the right side being both part in sand and in shadow, but looking again I see the shadow is on the sand, rather than beneath the thing. And, of course, it's given you the chance to get your favourite topic in. I like how you've moved it to a different corner of the same square in the second entry - great idea! The thing makes a fine bangle in DavidMac's entry, featuring the glorious Iris Apfel. What a perfect match to all her other plastic jewellery! Some lateral thinking from Jota120, with the phone perfectly replicating one of those angular 1960s phones. Very nicely done - I like the way you've treated it to match the low quality of the original photo. I really like the surreal second entry - terrific lighting! A novel stand-up surfboard from Ant Snell, and as ever it's the detail that makes it work - in this case, the splashes in front of it that integrate it into the scene. Good to see you back, Ant. A side-scrolling animation from michael sinclair, with neatly turning wheels. With that sort of background, though, I'd have thought it would be quite easy to make it seamless so you don't get the jump on the repeat. A clever building game from Gerard, nicely integrated into the family scene. I like all the additional blocks in the background - a neat idea. And the angles of the blocks almost work. There's a painterly quality to Frank's entry, not just in the treatment but in the composition. Is that traditional Polish dress? Round our way they tend to wear orange hard hats and high vis jackets. Beautifully achieved. An ingenious transformation into a giant shoe from Emy - a very novel idea. The only thing missing, though, is a shadow beneath the leather upper part. Linda Eckert has given us an interesting placement of a dozing man on the bench, who seems to have been well rewarded - I assume those are coins on the plate, rather than slices of pickled cucumber. He fits really well, with his arm resting on the side; the shadow of the plate seems a little too far away, though, given that the sun is very high in the sky. A very interesting entry from srawland, combining modernist furniture with a sleeper who I originally thought was Rousseau's Sleeping Gypsy. I like his restlessness in the animated version - perhaps he should have worn more minimalist pyjamas? Very funny. A truly terrific entry from Oday - the man on what appears to be a jet-powered skateboard looks fantastic. Excellent image treatment, and the graffiti on the board really puts it into place. Great work, Oday! I really like this one. |

It was pure chance Steve. I really couldn't think what to do with it so I duplicated it and flipped it and joined the two halves to make a tube to see if it gave me any ideas. The result looked a bit Art Deco and Iris popped into my head! Totally unplanned. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Thank you Steve, and I cannot take credit for the realistic tossing and turning. Someone else did that programming. All I did was stitch it together so it looked seamless. _________________ I'm still learning. |
