Challenge 691: Catching the post
I visited London's very splendid Postal Museum shortly after Christmas, which presents the story of the Royal Mail in an engaging and very informative manner. You even get to ride on an underground mail train. One of the exhibits shows an example of a wartime postbox, which has had its top painted white so people didn't bump into it in the blackout. They've made a reasonably stab at presenting it in context, set amid a pile of rubble, but can you make it into a more realistic museum exhibit? (All except Michael Sinclair, of course, who's probably still playing with his new propellers.) High res is here. |

Re: Challenge 691: Don't Panic Mr Mannering
Serious quickie time for the next few weeks because of heavy commitments. Not up to my usual standard at all. Bit of nostalgia for older Brits. Not going to mean much outside of the UK, so a word of explanation for those elsewhere. The soldiers you see here are from a wonderful TV comedy of the late late sixties and early seventies called "Dad's Army". They are Home Guard. This was a volunteer domestic force made up of those too old or unfit for conscription and the series pocked affectionate fun at their frailty and ineptitudes. The comedy was a huge success and many of my age remember it fondly. The title of this image was it's catchphrase. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Not just the UK, but the US too. I remember watching this as a Iowa Public Television import in the late 70s. It must still be popular because you can check out the complete series from the Sunnyvale Library, and they don't keep DVDs that aren't popular due to space limitations. _________________ I'm still learning. |

Linda, a well thought-out presentation which is both clever and funny: I like it! Josephine, again another funny entry This was very time-consuming, but note the "alternating" feet of mother duck, and "bobbing" heads of the ducklings (courtesy of the Liquefy Tool) UPDATED |
