Challenge 710: Light me up
A view of downtown New Orleans, with a Walgreen's pharmacy on the corner. Now I reckon it should be possible to light up that neon entirely using colour and luminosity selections, without having to select the text manually. What do you think? Up for the challenge?

High res is here.

A quick one and I'm off to the golf course...

I didn't have time to fix the electrical short in the broken 'U'...

Re: Challenge 710: Light me up
Not a lot of time this week. I'll have to try and find the time to 'channel' my energies to do this only with luminosity and chrominance.

Glad to see that you corrected the verticals Loyd; that was going to be the first thing on my list if I get time this week.

Hi Gordon... it was the first thing on my list too.

Well, I got the electrical short in the U fixed... just in time as it was getting dark...

Re: Challenge 710: Light me up
A very quick one and I cheated monstrously by making a dark top layer and then rubbing out the signs to reveal the brighter layer beneath. No time for more this week.

Toothache is a great distraction, so nothing too clever this week:

Walgreens are getting everywhere these days

Beautiful, Trevor.

I hurt my back Monday afternoon and didn't spend the time on this I should have.

I laughed at your mosque Michael. There are over 3000 mosques in Istanbul alone and Id say yours is the most impressive one yet!!

Re: Challenge 710: Light me up
Very little time but nonetheless so disappointed with this I nearly didn't post. The only saving grace is that being a technical challenge I stuck strictly to Steve's rules. Only chrominance and luminance selection combined with blend modes. Some mask brushing to clean up and some blur. That's it. Absolutely no other tools or manipulations of any kind.
