Challenge 720: The fleamarket chair
I come across a lot of interesting objects in French flea markets, but this one really had me baffled. Can you come up with any use for this bizarre pair of seats? High res is here. |

Beautiful work Sara (Night to dawn) Something simpler this week, but still an animation: four-second delay before the action starts |

Loyd, its interesting as this image took me to post Chernobyl also. Wonder what it is about it that inspires this? _________________ Wicked Witch of the West: I'm melting! I'm melting! |

Hi Anna... that is interesting indeed. I'm not sure, you must have looked at some of the same photos of Chernobyl that I did. I can recall a few pics of an amusement park and quite a few children's toys... all left behind. Now I'm really looking forward to your Chernobyl entry! Perhaps the flea-market chairs are just crying out to be radioactive... What is it they say about 'great minds'? EDIT -- I just remembered... when I first looked at this weeks challenge, my first thoughts were 'flea market chair' then 'flea chair' and then 'flee chair-nobyl', as in get out of town quick. |

Re: Challenge 720: The fleamarket chair
I’ve looked at several haunting images of Chernobyl and how it is today. Very eerie and the ones with the toys still left there, are particularly moving. But I guess my chain of thought and association was along the same lines as yours. Chair - Cher(nobyl) flea - flee. Yep lol good to have some clarity here _________________ Dorothy: Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore |

Love the second entry Loyd. Very amusing. Micheal that's very clever. Love the quirky perspective and great parallax correction on the curve. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Thanks David... you never know who you might see at a flea market. Isn't Michael's roller coaster great... very cool. |

Thanks for your kind comments Loyd and David Phew! This required some careful juxtaposing, and a lot of concentration. |

http://vimeo.com/286864538 Michael, the ski lift is great, particularly how you rebuilt the back of the chairs. Well done _________________ Wicked Witch of the West: I'm melting! I'm melting! |

Well done Anna... you've captured Chernobyl's hauntingly strange beauty remarkably well. The music sets the mood perfectly. |

Re: Challenge 720: The fleamarket chair
This was one of those 'wish I'd never started' images. The idea of the chair as a tilt chair was obvious. Finding the other stuff to fit was a nightmare. Most swimsuit photos are far too 'glam' to be suitable - and 90% of them covered in copyright watermarks and full face to camera. A dunk chair by definition is quite high (about eye level) but Steve's was photographed looking down on it. Tilting and cheating it to fit was not easy either. In the end the result is acceptable but certainly not worth the struggle! _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

The "dunk chair" works quite well David. Nicely done and obviously a lot of work. |

Re: Challenge 720: The fleamarket chair
Anna, I found your submission very haunting, but in a good way. Michael Sinclair - loved your chairlift. Much more clever than mine. Loyd used my idea and I didn't have another one. This was the best I could come up with. Creating good parallax is tricky. I'm still working it out. Animation: http://vimeo.com/287377367 _________________ I'm still learning. |

Check my yesterday post on photo animator in 'off Topic' section Sara. This is exactly the kind of thing it might work for. You did very well. Very nice. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 720: The fleamarket chair
Aside from the difficulties already listed, the real ones all have safety netting round them so in the end I had to build mine from scratch using plastic tubs and stuff. Even trying to find a back view of a boy throwing without a baseball outfit was surprisingly hard. My original had a very cheeky and buxom young girl. My wife took one look at it and accused me of being a dirty old man so I decided discretion was maybe the better part of valour and replaced her. This one is actually better 'cos she looks rather bored and pissed off. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |
