Challenge 731: Meet Rosita
I chanced upon Rosita in a vintage record shop recently - turns out it was created by Philips in 1973, and is a splendidly cobbled-together music centre. It was a very small room, so sorry I couldn't get more distance on this charming piece of ancient tech. Can you place her in a more appropriate setting? Or bring it more up to date? High res is here. |

Disco Dream I have done so little in PS lately, but have been lurking, looking at what you are doing. Thought I'd better give it a go. _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |

Lovely entries so far. Unfortunately, my computer is dying and I may have to get a new one. The repair guy doesn't come by until Thursday night. Not looking for a submission from me this week. _________________ I'm still learning. |

Interesting variations on a somewhat difficult subject (how to display it) -- great animations by Anna and Gordon as per usual: |

Re: Challenge 731: Meet Rosita
First to greet Rosita was DavidMac, very neatly integrated into the Thunderbirds scene: I like Brains’s hand resting on the back, and Scott (I think) sitting on it… and interesting how closely the design matches the instruments behind. Well devised. Love the Apple-branded grooviness of the second entry! Vintage work from Ben Boardman, featuring HMV’s dog in the background. (Interesting side note: the shiny surface the dog’s sitting on isn’t a table, it’s a coffin, with his master inside it.) Nice work, Ben, but the Philips logo would be much stronger in white. And not tempted to use Puppet Warp to lift the dog’s head? A vintage film poster from Ben Mills, from the days when people still had names like Holbrook Blinn and Edward Knoblock. Hand coloured? Very dramatic, and a good spot on the film name. The Rosita neatly woven into Vibeke's entry, clearly providing the soundtrack for this musical. The two girls on the bed aren’t really getting in the groove, are they! Looks like the mule in lwc's entry is having a tough time of it - but at least its a compact unit, rather than multiple pieces of hifi. I like the fold you’ve drawn on the blanket where it overlaps the top edge, and the reworked ropes. And a fantastic Michael Sinclair-like second entry - terrific wheel spin, and a nicely animated Rosita on the dashboard. A psychedelic vision from tooquilos, all bright lights and disco balls. Terrific sweeping lights in the animated version, and a fine selection of dancers. Did you find them ready green-screened? Splendid. I think Mariner might be sending himself subliminal messages… clearly spent too much time converting the device into a vintage PC this week, with both mouse and tablet - and a handy guide to function keys on the pad. I like the lighting! A homage to Flash Gordon from GKB, featuring - is that me, masquerading as Ming the Merciless? I always loved the styling of Ming’s spacecraft, and it’s good to see it improved by Rosita. Spinning that record on the turntable, though… brilliant. A splendidly detailed background from Jota120, with Rosita nestling perfectly in there. I’d question whether the man’s elbow should be in front of it, though - seems a little awkward. A gloomy second entry - where did you get this image? Extraordinary. Rosita - the ballet, courtesy of Frank. Beautifully woven into the scene behind all that dry ice, and I really like the way you’ve recreated the logo complete with sparkles. I like this one a lot. |
