Etherical maybe. (Had other ideas, but not enough time sorry). Not precise but meant that way, excepting a couple of errors maybe.

Re: Challenge 732: Going down
My computer is back up and running with a new hard drive. I was able to salvage all of my HoTChIPs work but some other things were lost.

But, I have to put this in perspective. I could be living in a tent in Chico, California after my entire town was burnt to the ground.

Re: Challenge 732: Going down
First to open the doors this week was lwc, with an array of elevating canines. A few points: we really should be able to see a corner in the back; and as the doors open, in reality the reflections would stay in the same place rather than opening with the doors; and a plant with lighting as strong as that should really cast a shadow behind it. I enjoyed the second entry, particularly the fist sliding up and down; the two men inside the second elevator are curious, though.

I hugely enjoyed Ant Snell’s entry, the right elevator full of falling action; but it’s the one on the left, with the man looking down the shaft, that impressed me the most. And, of course, the views inside. Terrific work, Ant, a real triumph.

A really fun entry from Vibeke, with a tightly packed elevator - reminds me of underground trains in Tokyo. Really nicely constructed, especially the Out of Order sign on the closed doors. Excellent.

A 3D title to GKB's entry - curious lack of perspective on the spinning sign - followed by a charming foray into an infrared world of snow scenes. The lion and witch, when they appear, are splendid. Beautifully conceived, Gordon.

A step back in time from tooquilos; with a much grander setting altogether. And is that a ghost through the open doors? I like the way he shimmers in the animated version, and the smoke is a great addition. I like how he crops up all around the hotel, too - very entertaining.

DavidMac has come over all Escher: a splendid construction, with walkways linking the doors in impossible ways. Helped greatly by the fine selection of people viewed from above, looking up and down: where on earth did you find them?

Serious remodelling from Mariner, with the doors transported to ancient Egypt. Great use of perspective, but one thing bothers me: how do people get out of those doors to the temples beyond? The walkway seems to end in the wall next to the door. Do they jump across? Or is this a Sphinx-like riddle?

An “etherical” entry from Jota120, the two doors replacing doors on the street. There are, as you point out, a couple of errors, but you can see them as well as me so no point describing them. Other than the first word, “etherical” - what on earth did you mean by this?

I laughed out loud at srawland's animated entry - what a brilliant use of Fuse! And a superbly designed soundtrack. I really enjoyed this one.

____

Here’s how the reflection should stay static when the doors open. Forgive the hasty interior.

http://xoio-air.de

Good site with a selection of 2D green screen figures, textures and 3D models. Mostly downloadable in packages of several figures at a time. The "seen from above" package has about 30 figures. The 3D figures are textured with real photographs - a far cry from the plastic tailor's dummies of Fuse.

Thank you Steve. There is a set of narrow steps down the front of the building, which you can't see from this angle. There is also a back door. Both of these allow you to get to the walkway. If you walk along the bank you will find the ferry. It goes once an hour, ancient egyptian time. If you are a god, especially Horus, I suppose you could just fly across. Otherwise, who wants to go to the Temple of Isis anyway?

Re: Challenge 732: Going down
Thanks Steve. I wasn't at all sure this one was going to work when I started on it.

The use of infrared images stems back a few years when someone said that one particular image looked just how she would expect Narnia to be like; so that's where the inspiration came from.

Thanks Steve,
Etheric: from Greek myth the upper regions of the atmosphere; clear sky or heaven.
Also: Chemistry: a pleasant-smelling colourless volatile liquid that is highly flammable. It is used as an anaesthetic and as a solvent or intermediate in industrial processes.
Alternative names: diethyl ether, ethoxyethane; chemical formula: C2H5OC2H5. <= But not this

Thank you Steve, and you were spot on, I photographed the people on a train in Tokyo.
