Re: Challenge 753: Call me a taxi
When logging in to this site, and only this site, I sometimes get the following error:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@howtocheatinphotoshop.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

If I am the only one getting this, then the fault most probably lies with my connection to the net. Any comments?

David, while I was doing this graphic that weird picture The Son of Man by René Magritte kept jumping into my head.

No, Michael, you’re not the only one as I have been getting the same message for the last few days. I found that I can clear it by simply refreshing the page.

Thanks Loyd for your comment. Good to see that you are progressing well with the IR photography.

Josephine - I hope you are feeling less now

Good work from everyone - not an easy start image.

Whilst I would never have made that connection myself, I can see exactly why. We have an entire museum here in Brussels devoted entirely to Magritte. It's really splendid.

I've been getting this same "Internal Server" message on occasion. My browsers have been acting up and I thought that was the problem, apparently it's just a coincidence...

I have a few connection failures too in the last week or so. Refresh cures it just about very time. So thought it was maybe slowness my end.

I never really understood the mentality behind Dada, David, although I do appreciate some of the weird pictures.

Internal Server Error

I have sent an email to the webmaster@howtocheatinphotoshop.com and we shall see if anything happens. Don't hold your breath.

Internal Server Error
Well, my email to webmaster@howtocheatinphotoshop.com failed with an Error 550.

Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender
From: mailer-daemon@gmx.de

This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of
its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es)
failed: webmaster@howtocheatinphotoshop.com:
SMTP error from remote server for RCPT TO command, host: mx1.dreamhost.com (64.90.62.163) reason: 550 5.1.1 <webmaster@howtocheatinphotoshop.com>:
Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual alias table

My email server, gmx.co.uk, seems to think Webmaster doesn't want to know, or doesn't exist. Steve also sent me a PM to say he doesn't know what to do about this. I think the story ends here. We will just have to put up with this minor problem and hope it doesn't get any worse.

Me neither, but I do enjoy the surrealism which emerged from it ....... of which Magritte was part.

Re: Challenge 753: Call me a taxi
First to pose the taxi this week was lwc, with a mishap on a roundabout: is the crash because it was going round the wrong way? It is a London taxi, after all. An interesting use of a trebuchet in the second entry; that must be one mighty weapon of war. A fun cannon fire in the third entry, with a great flame effect. The man standing in front of the wheel does give a sense of scale, but it makes him tiny in comparison to the size of the house. Not entirely sure of the sound effect though - I think tooquilos's three booms get it spot on. I did enjoy the infrared fourth entry.

A good angle from DavidMac, posed in a car showroom: just a slight twist, I think, would have made it perfect. I like the reflection in the windscreen. An entertaining second entry, too, perfectly matching the Bullit car. Follow that cab!

A reverse of Mariner's usual approach - this taxi has been comprehensively scrapped. And very nicely done: the rebuilt wheel arches and bent metal are splendid. Some surrealism in the second entry, with the taxi in a tree: very nicely integrated it is, too, and the traffic warden is a good touch. Perfect composition, and a good window treatment.

A dose of politics from Josephine Harvatt, matching the viewpoint of the taxi perfectly. For me the tour de force is the Trump shark. Brilliant.

Fully on-topic michael sinclair this week, with a very convincing two framer. I like how the taxi suspension takes in the bounce of the road - there’s something very appealing about that. Of course, it would have been even better if you’d used my taxi.

There’s a glorious 1950s feel to Frank's entry, a beautiful assembly featuring a pair of leaping taxis. Really fantastic work, Frank - I particularly like how you’ve dealt with the windows.

A terrific image from tooquilos, with a flying Uber taxi - is that C3PO at the wheel? My only query here is about the angle of view of the clouds, which somehow don’t seem to match the taxi (although I can’t really work out why). I really like the map animation at the start of the animated version, and the way you’ve tucked the SatNav behind the steering wheel. That tiny rotor blade is impressive, and the parcel drop sequence really made me laugh. Wonderful.

A surreal landscape from Ant Snell, with the taxi on a stick. But it’s a very fine composition, and there’s a lot of interest here. Just one perspective issue: that cab in the foreground is much too far away for the amount of perspective - remember, those vanishing lines should point to the horizon.

A very funny animation from GKB, with a particularly beautifully animated worm - and neat moving eyes on the snails. Aardman, you have competition!

An extraordinary rock formation from srawland, with the taxi perched on the edge. Will it make the leap? Yes it does, in the animated version: I love the speed of the leap, and the terrific sound effects.

______________

Re the Internal Server Error: As far as I can tell this is a hosting issue, out of my control. Sending an email to the webmaster won’t help as that’s me! Looking into it, but feeling desperately out of my depth.

Truth is it doesn't quite match. Trust you to spot it! I thought you would! A twist would match the front but misalign the side. So I settled for the shorter length being the one mismatched.

Very pushed for time last week and this week. House guests.

Thanks Steve. I had a little giggle to myself when I animated the worm and dropped it into the film.

Thanks Steve.

I totally struggled with the sense of scale. I placed the character in a number of positions without resizing him. The illusion left me with a compromise... placed at the door, he looks too large. By the limo, only slightly too large. By the wheel he still hasn't been resized but does look tiny... as always, I am certainly open to any and all suggestions. I just wasn't sure how to handle this 'scale' issue, I tried making him larger by the wheel but that didn't look quite right either. In retrospect, perhaps larger (in the back of my mind, he was already too large) and by the wheel would have been best.
