Frank, That's really great.

In any film slow motion requires many more frames than regular motion. The slower you want something to appear the more frames you need.

I have two exams tomorrow and have been studying all week.

Unfortunately, this is all I had time for:

Re: Challenge 759: The horse box
First to fill the horse box was Ant Snell, with highly appropriate My Little Pony. A neatly opened rear door, and I like the saturated colours. But why is the girl so vertically compressed?

The first of many entries from lwc was a splendid raptor transporter. Ingenious animation: the ground moving at variable speeds is most convincing, but it’s the spinning wheels and flashing lights (and the nodding raptor) that really work for me. I like the zebras in the second entry - the twitching tails and ears and, especially, the chewing mouths. Very natural movement. A fun rat theme in the third entry; the only thing I don’t like here is the moving rat at the bottom which, as it goes right along the base of the image, seems to rather spoil the perspective. I enjoyed the Prisoner references in the fourth entry, but that’s not Portmeirion in the background. A terrific aquatic fifth entry, with shimmering waves and seagulls - and that life jacket on the driver is a cute touch. The rattling cage is a subtle animation in the sixth entry. Of course, the front truck and trailer should be larger than the rear one, to make the perspective work:

Tortoise racing from Ben Mills, the poor thing looking rather uncomfortable squeezed in there. The graphic explains it all; is there another truck containing the hare?

Funny work from DavidMac, with a full-size horse breaking the box: an excellent rear door, the chains make a lot of sense. Very well judged shadows, too.

A tiny horse from GKB, complete with Tony Ponies R Us branding. A nicely constructed interior. Excellent movement in the animated version: the flapping ramp, spinning wheels and swaying hay bale work really well. Of course, that trotting horse is the real star of the show. Getting it to descend the ramp must have been tricky. I’d limit it to just the one horse, though, and perhaps add a ground shadow to it?

Once again michael sinclair demonstrates his mastery of the two framer, which can be a surprisingly effective technique. The shifting reflections really help the illusion. But once again, watch your perspective: the tops of the horse box and land rover should be sloping down, not up:

…and that’s also true of the second entry, of course: the top needs to point down towards the horizon, not up away from it. But I do like the sentiment in this one. Perhaps lose the reflection of the truck from the front of the horse box? A nicely sooty Trump in the final version.

A fairground setting from tooquilos, with new carousel rides being delivered. A dramatic intro to the animated version, with a great unveiling of the new ride. Beautiful. Curious to see a carousel as the main attraction in a circus, though - I imagine that’s why they couldn’t attract an audience.

Really pleased to see Frank getting into animations, and this is a great example: the changing traffic lights, the truck disappearing behind the tree, and the walking man work really well. Love the pose on the elephant at the back! Keep going, Frank, you’re on a winner here.

A beautifully modified horse box from Mariner, with a thoroughly convincing ramp and opened truck door. gThe side opening has a great bevel around it, and the family looks good in the truck. I see it carries my monogram - complete with reflection! Splendid.

Sorry to hear srawland has been so busy this week - but glad you managed to get an entry in nonetheless. And a very cute horse it is, too.

Thanks Steve. Not a lot of time to devote to it ....... but it was fun!

When you click on Mariner unfortunately you get Frank's animation. And a very good one it is too, Frank.

Thanks Steve, rather enjoying figuring out the animations - plan to keep working on them for awhile. Certainly involves some head scratching at times.

Re: Challenge 759: The horse box
Thanks Steve.

I had a Portmeirion version, not sure why I didn't use it.

For the aquatic animation I spent more time on the shark (attempt at realism) than anything else. Perhaps it was too subtle?

Too subtle for me! Great refraction.

Thanks Steve.

Great work from everyone again. All of those animations are coming along nicely and I think I'll have to up my game.
