Re: Challenge 992: The Big Deal
I love both the Ikea's. Hot'n'spicy KFC! Perfect Loyd. All the images from this challenge are from RawPixel. Fortunately they were all png's. I was unsure how it would turn out, but overall, its came together quite well....I think. Taronga Park is the zoo here in Sydney, located on one of the headlands in Sydney Harbour. http://vimeo.com/914089397 _________________ Wicked Witch of the West:I'll get you, my pretty! Took me a moment or two Ben. Very clever! _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Missed your zoo first time round Anna. I especially like the animation as it takes you in close to the letters so you can really appreciate how they are made. Lot of work there. You have been a busy girl! Michael I missed out on yours too. Nice to see a multi framed animation from you. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Not a lot of inspiration for this as my ankle is very painful and distracting so I thought I would base my effort this week on the original image. http://vimeo.com/manage/videos/914167239 _________________ Have you ever noticed that all the instruments designed to detect intelligent life are pointing away from the Earth? |

Re: Challenge 992: The Big Deal
I decided to re-visit my original BRICO idea. The french for DIY is bricolage. BRICO is the largest DIY chain in Belgium. Their distinctive yellow and green logo is everywhere from small in town high street stores to vast out of town megastores. I scrapped my original half completed idea (which was basically shallow profiles) and decided to try and go for something that echoed the truly three dimensional quality of Steve's example. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 992: The Big Deal
This just suddenly popped into my head out of nowhere! It's bang on brief but sort of cheating because there's not much Photoshop involved ............. and I am now the owner of a badly creased ten euro note. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Challenge 992: The Big Deal
Michael. Terrific. This is really impressive! A lot of work has gone into this. I keep studying it ...... and studying it ...... and wondering ......... I hope you don't mind if I ask some questions. I am presuming that the basic design is a black line drawing that has then been embossed to produce the leading. The circles are easy to make but the freehand work is less straightforward. Is this vector work with bezier curves, hand painted with the help of brush smoothing, or something else altogether? You have a huge variety of textures of glass with a big variance in scale. My first thought was simply that you had done a lot of searching and 'sampled' a lot of glass. The problem with this idea is that the samples would have all sorts of different backgrounds and colours seen through them. It would be easy enough to adjust and colourise to produce consistent colours and brightnesses and, with careful choosing, the glass textures could conceal that the backgrounds were not necessarily consistent with one another. However, even through the vastly distorting and differing glass textures, I get the impression that the background is in fact a single image and that you have achieved the glass effect's with distortion filters or overlays. But here again I run into difficulties as I cannot think of any glass filter capable of producing such a variety of different distortions. On the other hand the results look too three dimensional to be easily achieved with overlays. I am really intrigued to know how you have done these. The bevelled edges I am assuming you have simply done yourself by hand and, to my eye, they are just perfect. If I am asking you to give away trade secrets just ignore my questions and accept the praise. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Some great and varied images, ideas. Hope the shingles disappears Steve - very painful. I haven't been around much as my wife ( age 79) fell and broke her hip 4 weeks ago so needless to say spending a lot of time in hospital. Coupled with her Parkinson's Disease recovery will be very slow. |
