Re-Enable Photoshop PSD Thumbnails in Windows Explorer
http://rapidshare.de/files/3148584/psicon.dll_for_Photoshop_CS.zip.html If you have used Photoshop for at least a few years, you may have noticed this change. Back in the day before CS/CS2, Photoshop included support for displaying PSD files as thumbnails in Windows Explorer's thumbnail view. If you haven't already noticed, the latest Photoshop CS/CS2 have completely removed support for this, and all you get now is a standard Photoshop icon for PSD files. If you have upgraded from a previous version of Photoshop to CS/CS2, your PSD thumbnails should still be working, but a fresh install of CS/CS2 will NOT include thumbnail previews of PSDs. There is a way to fix this, and all you need is the missing DLL to be placed in the right folder and a registry edit. This fix does confirm to work with Photoshop CS2 on Windows XP. And as with any registry change, please be sure to backup. Example: http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/1759/psdthumbnails2oh.jpg Intructions: 1. Extract and place the psicon.dll in 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Shell\' (if you do not have a 'Shell' directory, go ahead and create one) 2. Double click the REG file to apply registry settings. 3. Browse to a directory with PSD files and switch to thumbnail view (refresh if necessary). Your PSDs should now support full thumbnail previewing. |
