Challenge 806: The banqueting suite
The Bell Hotel in Mildenhall is closed, of course, along with the rest of the hospitality sector. But this might be a good opportunity for some remodelling; the side-street entrance to its Conference and Banqueting Suite looks disappointingly dismal; there's hardly a warm welcome here.

Without demolishing the building, can you give this entrance some sense of grandeur and ceremony?

High res is here.

Re: Challenge 806: The banqueting suite
Hi all, just a quick explanatory note as to why I have not been participating the last few weeks. I have been keeping a keen eye on everyone’s great entries, however. For those of you who attended last year’s Xmas do I did mention hoping to buy a renovation project house. Well I did and while the rest of the world was panic buying toilet rolls, I was panic buying plaster, skirting boards and kitchens. I have been working on the project 7 days a week and when I get home, I can’t usually muster the strength to keep my eyes open, let alone start a Friday Challenge. Steve when you said to me “Have you got the energy to do something like that?” you were closer to the truth than I thought! Anyway I am now on the final hurdle and hope to be back to the forum soon.

Perhaps some Napoleonic troops would help?

This is really not up to my usual standards. But I'd spent a couple of hours on it before I realised it was all going pear shaped, so I am posting anyway.

This is a definite case of architectural identity crisis!

By the way, the forum seems to be working again, I am not having to do a page refresh any longer. My posts are appearing as they should ......... at least I think so ...........

I didn't think I would be able to do this challenge. I looked at it, blankly, for ages. Then bit by bit, I think, it all came together.

David, I love how you have done this. Im just wondering - if you applied a marble texture over it....

I just tried it, and I am still forced to use 'refresh'.

Me too. I got 'straight through' a couple of times but its seems to be misbehaving again.

Re: Challenge 806: The banqueting suite
This is very little better than it's predecessor and every bit as silly. So am stopping here with this week .........

Re: Challenge 806: The banqueting suite
Thanks David... I had to rework the overall original scale, but it seems to work okay.

Yes, it's added a lot more to the texture, David.
