Challenge 807: The model hurricane
I photographed this model plane at an air museum last year. The trouble is, it does look very much like a model. Can you make the scene appear more realistic?

High res is here.

Hurricane ? It’s a de Havilland Mosquito.

Welcome back, Gordon. I was just about to ask you why the cockpit is so far forward. Thanks.

The giant puddle is very curious.

That sign says Mosquito Mk VI of 305 Squadron RAF. I should have seen that earlier.

For some reason the forum is refusing my attempt to edit my original post so second posting.

In case anyone should doubt this uses Steve's model. No substitution.

Gordon Bain please refrain from knowledgable comments .......

Re: Challenge 807: The model hurricane
Couldn't find a hurricane so used a spitfire instead (He won't know the difference)

Probably a mirror, they were often used to simulate water.

Yes. My comment was less about how it was made than what it was doing there. It seemed such an odd detail.

Your animation is splendid! Excellent.

Probably so viewers could see the details of the underside of the plane.

Yes. Clever. That's almost certainly it.

Nicely reconstructed David. You may wish to darken the right wing section where it's taken the reflection from the cabinet.

I really thought I'd got away with that!

Too lazy .......... I reckoned it was one of those things you only notice if you know already.

Which this isn't ..........

Since this is obviously a subject that interests you, I don't know if you saw it back then, but I posted this in 2014 during an exchange with Gordon.

>>> "My uncle Christopher (Bunny) Currant was a Hurricane pilot in WW11. Some years ago the Hurricane he flew was discovered abandoned in Mumbai in India. It is known to be very same one he flew from its registration number. It has now been restored and is for sale. If you happen to have a spare £2,500,000 (+VAT) lying around, it could be yours!" <<<

Shortly after I posted this Christopher, who was well into his nineties, died. By then he really was one of the last of the "few". One of the last things he did was to sit in the cockpit of his restored Hurricane. At his memorial they showed a video of him sitting there quite literally with tears in his eyes.

At the same memorial the new owner did a low altitude fly past. What an incredible sound!! It makes me quiver even now.
