Challenge 873: Reverend Mollusc
Wandering around Shrewsbury Museum recently I came across this charming portrait of a benign-looking vicar.

What the portrait doesn't portray is the Reverend William Henry Egerton’s scientific research, which is explained in the accompanying label.

Can you show the learned gentleman at his studies?

High res is here.

Seems like the good Rev took his research one step further....

Wow, Loyd, the snails look like they belong in the scene. Well done!

Thank you Anna...!

I love your entry... very clever!

Reminded me of a silly joke from years ago:

A snail became very tired of being so slow. He managed to find a tiny sports car and to customize it for himself, he painted a large red 'S' on both sides. He had great fun driving at speeds much faster than ever. One day as he was driving by a group of others, he overheard one of them say: "Wow, look at that 'S-CAR-GO'!"

Wonderful Anna, I'm still trying to get my thoughts organised.

Thank you Loyd, Vibeke and David.
No, I didn't make the snail car but found it while I was looking for snails on Sketchfab and thought..hmm..I can use this! The added bonus - it was a free download.

I never cease to be amazed by what can be found out there! It's just perfect. Lovely animation.

It's one those elaborately silly jokes that can actually make you groan and laugh at the same time.

Loyd I find that completely convincing. Quite remarkable even.

Re: Challenge 873: Reverend Mollusc
This is not an entry but vaguely on topic. Today Ingrid and I were at one of Belgiums bigger flea markets and what should we find but happy 'siamese' molluscs!!

You would love this market Steve. All sorts of potential curiaux material. Or even, perhaps, an elephant to grace your already eyebrow raising home!

Egerton with his favourite Powelliphanta snails.

Powelliphanta is a genus of large, air-breathing land snails, pulmonate gastropods in the family Rhytididae, found only in New Zealand. They are carnivorous, eating invertebrates, mostly native earthworms.

The largest species, Powelliphanta superba prouseorum, has a shell up to 9 cm across and can weigh 90 g The striking delicately patterned shells of Powelliphanta come in an array of shades, from brown or red to yellow or black.

The blame for this rest entirely with an Oklahoman who, for the sake of discretion, I shall leave unidentified.

Very nice vibeke, Powelliphanta is interesting, I learn something new every day.

Re: Challenge 873: Reverend Mollusc
David, that's funny. With your version the original joke isn't required.

Why am I starting to think of melted butter and garlic...?
