Deborah Morley, 1959-2019

It is with great sadness that I must report that Deborah Morley has lost her battle with cancer, three months after her 60th birthday. She leaves behind her husband Richard, whom she married in March this year.

Deborah was a regular and valued presence on the Forum, which she joined in 2006. She kept us entertained with her witty, imaginative montages, and was always ready to make suggestions or pass on advice, which she did throughout the Forum.

Deborah attended many of our meet-ups, and it was always a real pleasure to be in her company. She had struggled to take part over the last year, as chemotherapy had prevented her from participating fully - although she did manage one Friday Challenge just a couple of months ago.

Deborah's mischievous illustrations permeated her life. One of her last photomontage images was this invitation to her own wedding, in which she cast herself - with typical self-effacement - as the Bride of Frankenstein.

Deborah joins Trevor Pirt, James Smith and Marty Guyer in the gallery of Forum members who we shall not forget.

Like all of us I enjoyed her presence here in the forum.

I met her just the once. A gentle and intelligent woman.

What a tragedy such a fun self mocking image should have to be so sad.

But then maybe it's not's not ......... maybe it's simply right and fitting.

So sad to hear about Deborah. She was both a valued member of the forum and a lovely person to be with at our various meetings. I will have many pleasant memories.

My thoughts and sympathies are with Richard.

That really is very sad news. Should we have a forum meet up to commemorate her? (or did I just miss a summer meeting?)

I've asked Richard to let me know when the funeral will take place. Deborah had hoped to come to our last Christmas meeting, but sadly was unable to make it.

Anna passed on this very sad news to me today.

Deborah was a lovely lady with a wonderful sense of humour and she will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her. Deborah's work was first class by any standards and such a valuable contribution to this wonderful forum. God bless her and my deepest sympathies to Richard.

Nick

I am sorry I missed this when it originally posted. I knew the end was soon, but it's always sad and a bit of a shock. She was a lovely person and we will all miss her. My deepest condolences to Richard.

Re: Deborah Morley, 1959-2019
I have just noticed this posting, so a rather belatedly sad farewell. I was fortunate in meeting her in 2013 at one of the meet-ups in London. I am also sad for those of us who don't have spouses or family members to inform Steve when the time comes when we have "popped our clogs" too.

Thanks for the info, Steve. I would be going from London too, but will only know tomorrow if I'm free on Tuesday.

OK let me know if you can make it, Eva - it would be good to share the journey. I'll be driving, as there's no train station anywhere near.

Re: Deborah Morley, 1959-2019
Such sad news, I too had the pleasure of meeting Deborah at the 2013 get together, a day I still treasure.
Please pass my condolences on to her family. The problem of getting to my age is people passing is becoming all to regular, but Deborah was taken long before her time.
Love to all of you and remember to tell those close to you that you love them.
