Sorry can't manage it this time. Have to be back before sundown, in time for roll-call. Lock-down is at 21.00hrs

Sorry to hear that you can't make it Ben. I did wonder if you might manage to get down from the East Midlands. I'm sure we will raise a glass to absent friends though.

Re: The traditional HTCIP Christmas party
Just to let you all know that I have paid the deposit for the booking and am working on 9 people being there. Let's hope that the snow clears well before then.

Unfortunately they don't have a WiFi facility so conference calls to NZ and Oz are off the menu.

Thanks Gordon... I will be there as 'tis in the diary. Pity about the WiFi. Perhaps a forum Guru might work out how we could create an international video conference through Skype. Might be fun to try. Is it possible?

It is possible. I can bring my Netbook which has Skype on it but it requires someone to bring a mobile phone 'dongle' to connect to Skype......and to figure out how to connect with a dongle as I haven't done that before.

Re: The traditional HTCIP Christmas party
Thanks again Gordon.
That's a pity, according to the web they had WiFi. Sorry I don't have a 'dongle', just a mobile with bluetooth.
I'll be there providing Gatwick (currently closed - snow) and Cork airports are open and I guess the trains afterwards.

Re: The traditional HTCIP Christmas party

Well, failing an 'on site' International Christmas Video Conference is it possible for a 'Call from our Homes via Skype' type International Christmas Video Conference?
Hmmm, I may have the ideas, however nutty, but putting them into possible reality is something else altogether!

I really appreciate the thoughts and efforts going into planning this International Christmas Conference. If there is anything I can do from my end..Id be happy to.

As I said to Gordon, if its not possible to go ahead..its not the end of the world but its great if it can happen

Fallback:

Not sure this is the most cost effective solution, but

I've created a bridge conference connection so you can call in. I can only have so many lines which I need to tell them in advance. Leave that to Gordon to advise me

Skype, cheaper for sure, but I think my solution should work

Ps (Ireland needs some more international trade, but we are good at doing it), so it would be nice if calls went virtual through there, I #m joking

Re: The traditional HTCIP Christmas party
Could everyone please have a look at the Christmas menu on The Archduke's website ( http://www.thearchduke.co.uk/ ) and make a decision about whether you wish to go a la carte or with the Christmas menu. If you decide on the Christmas menu please let me know your choices for starter, main and dessert.

I really need to know asap but definitely by Monday at the latest.

It might be best to e mail me directly at gkbain@aol.com

Gordon

I'd really love to meet with you... ahh... but thursday 9th I'm moving from Murcia to Madrid. What a pity. Probably I would try to go to London if the date were a little later.

Anyway, I'm still afraid about my poor english lang but I'm triying to do my best on it learning as fast as I can.

I promise that I'll go to the next meeting. And, who knows if I'll visit some of you earlier. I always wanted to travel to London and will need some tourist advices

Have a nice Christmas Conference

Re: The traditional HTCIP Christmas party
Anna, do you have Skype and a webcam?

I'm happy to put Skype on my little macbook and I also have wireless or mobile broadband.

Anna, you are 11 hours ahead so if we talk to you around 21.30 or 22.00 pm, that should be 08. 30 or 09.00 with you. How does that sound?

Wonder if we can talk to Vibeke or anyone else besides Trevor.

Re: The traditional HTCIP Christmas party
Looking forward to Friday.

I have a plug-in Logitech web camera I use on my desktop. Would it help if I brought that along and its s/w CD? It might be easier to wave a camera around perhaps rather than a laptop.
