Just playing. I've always wanted to have a go at this. ![]() _________________ My neighbour knocked on my door at 2:30am this morning, can you believe that 2:30am?! Luckily for him I was still up playing my Bagpipes. |

Re: New tutorial online - planet building
Hi Steve Great tutorial and really well explained. I saw this technique in Digital Photo mag some time ago and, like Gordon, have been meaning to have a go. This has prompted me into action - where's the camera? Nick |

Great shot, Gordon. I like the way you've flipped the name of the boat. Nick: I think the key word here is "from", rather than "of". You need something big in there to punctuate the horizon - the Eiffel Tower itself would work a treat, if you could fit it in! |

Not sure if I understand your comment on Nick's work, Steve. 'Punctuating the horizon'? It all looks great to me, and I have read your excellent tutorial but not had a go so... maybe I have missed a crucial point. |

Re: New tutorial online - planet building
My point is that these constructions always look better when there's an object in the foreground that sticks up into the sky. When everything's very distant, the outline is too uniform and lack interest. My oblique way of saying this was that Nick's photo was "from" the Eiffel Tower, rather than "of" it - its addition would have really helped this image. |

Thought I would tackle this one. It's the Graslei in Ghent alongside the canal. Six images covering 180 degrees made up the working shot and were stitched together in Autopano. ![]() and this is the original Panorama ![]() _________________ My neighbour knocked on my door at 2:30am this morning, can you believe that 2:30am?! These all look great, will have to give it a try. At the moment I'm trying to copy thousands of photos from my laptop to my desktop. a slow job. _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |

Re: New tutorial online - planet building
I was in the middle of doing a 360 panorama taken from the top of a minaret at a mosque in Cairo, when I saw this, so I just had to try it. I know I didn't have the right amount of ground, but it's still pretty good. ![]() _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |

Re: New tutorial online - planet building
Most impressive, Vibeke! But you see how having some ground in the picture would get around that spiky point right in the middle. |

Re: New tutorial online - planet building
Thanks, I know, but you should have told me before I took the photo LOL, Mind you there wasn't much chance of having ground there. I will have to find an other view. _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |
