Steve Jobs
It is with great sadness that I learned today of the death of Steve Jobs. Whatever your preferred computer platform, he has had an impact upon it. Steve was a visionary and an extraordinary innovator.

Steve changed my world, and yours. If you want to see what was so great about him, I recommend you watch his unveiling of the first iPhone just five years ago:

Re: Steve Jobs
Thanks Steve. A very remarkable man and role model.

I was particularly heartened by SJ's words about mobiles. "It's amazing how hard it is to make calls on most phones" he said. I so agree. I felt so bad that I disliked them so much and didn't want to use them. I remembered you telling me about how fantastic you found your first iPhone. A week ago I bought a second hand one and am blown away by the intuitive way it works.

Artwel, I also started listening to the speech he made that you have linked to. Amazing and inspiring history. Hard to believe that Apple started with two of them in a garage!

Re: Steve Jobs
The Apple II was the first computer I learned to use, and I still remember many of the commands required. Many of the games I played were the best! I completed my first ever graphics design creating high res coloured lines on the screen by way of text commands.

In the 90s I used a Mac extensively, loved them! Helped having a father owning an Apple Computer shop, so software was easily available (er copyable). One of the best Macs I enjoyed using had a 486 PC card in it, at a key press I could switch to an IBM PC and have best of both worlds with no shortcomings of running a software emulated PC, as the other alternative was back then.

Although I mostly use a PC now, I still have a few apples kicking around the place, including an Apple III and an Apple LISA! Which really was the the first mac like computer. Probably the most reliable computers ever made.

R.I.P Steve

Re: Steve Jobs
I was terribly saddened by this news also.

Whether we are aware of it or not, this man has touched and changed all our lives for the better. He will be very deeply missed.
