Suitable for beginners
Hello, I've really enjoyed going through all the posts on this forum. I'd really be classed as a beginner photoshop user and the little I know is completely self-taught. My experience is pretty much scanning for the web and tarting up the images a bit, a little bit of picture merging but nothing too tricky. Today I go from PS5.5 to CS with my new computer My question is, do you think the first "How To Cheat" book is suitable for a beginner? I'm really keen to produce montages ... Is there some other book / tutorial I should use first? Thanks and regards Erin |

Re: Suitable for beginners
I for one would certainly recommend this book for a beginner. It is an ideal way to get used to the tools and filters of Photoshop as they are used in a practical way that applies to the way most photo-montage creators use Photoshop. But a good book that shows the fully array of Photoshop menus, tools and filter is Photoshop CS A to Z - The Essential Visual Reference Guide It doesn't give you tutorials as it's a reference book but each filter/tools/menu etc. is explained in good detail with photographs and shortcut hints as well. It's a handy book to have, but I do recommend Steve's book as well for it's easy-to-understand application of good technique, that unlike a lot of tutorial books doesn't waffle on for ages and get's straight to the juicy bits of montaging. What's especially great about Steve's book is that it's "all killa and no filla" in other words you will find that each tutorial is useful to you and will give you the neccessary skills to improve upon your own montaging. |
