Error on page 105 "people and cars"?
Removing the wiindscreen as suggested in step 2 removes the interior also. There's no instruction on what to do or any indication of how to do it or is it just me? |

In step 2, we isolate the windows and, rather than deleting it, cut it to a new layer. Then, in step 3, we remove the glass area from this layer, using the appropriate path, leaving just the car interior on that layer. Try it! |

Re: Error on page 105 "people and cars"?
Thanks for the reply but im still really lost I followed the tutorial and got the car glass onto a new layer, but the glass is infront of the interior making it very hard to see where the interior parts edges are (seatbelt buckles, steering wheel etc), Even managing all the fiddly near impossible selecting it would still leave the glass look on the headrests etc, unlike the picture you have in the book.
It just seems like a big leap going from step two to step three and seems to me there are numberous steps missing to get to the point, everything else is explained in detail a small step at a time. Thanks for taking the time to reply, has anyone else had this problem? |

Hello Deadmark, I have just tried out people and cars. When you use the rear window path to cut out on your new windscreen layer, yes you do still have reflections on the glass, which confused me as well. (I don't think you can see them in the book as the image is too small) But, if you carry on with the tutorial and put your own white shading on the window those reflections get lost. Also when you put the man in he covers reflections on the head rest. Hope this helps. |

I just got the book and had the same question. I worked around it by duplicating the windscreen layer (just in case I goofed it all up), locking the tranparency and then using the Burn tool to get rid of the shine. Of course, that probably wouldn't work on a light colored interior, but I'll worry about that later. |
