The traditional HTCIP Christmas party
Chatting with Eggbox the other evening we came up with the idea of a Christmas get together one evening so this post is just to sound out possible support for the idea and to get an idea of numbers. Venue and date are not decided but drinkies and possibly a meal are being considered. Likely venue will be somewhere in London. Let me know if you are interested and whether a weekday or a weekend would be best. You should also be aware that photographs of said event might find their way onto the forum

Great idea Gordon. Early evening would be good, just to allow for return trains, weekend or weekday whichever works best for everyone. |

Re: The traditional HTCIP Christmas party
I have made a booking at The Archduke ( http://www.thearchduke.co.uk/ ) for Friday 10 December. It’s located just 3 minutes walk from Waterloo Station on the way to the Festival Hall. Being so close to Waterloo should hopefully allow most people an easy journey. The restaurant is actually underneath one of the railway arches on the Charing Cross line. As they are quite busy with pre-theatre bookings I have arranged for a table for 7.30pm but there is nothing to stop anyone turning up early at the bar. I shall probably get there around 6.30. There may be a deposit of £10 per head (anyone forgetting to bring their head gets in free) I'll let you know. I do need to know numbers likely to turn up asap. I'm in. All you Forum members who live in the UK - or, at least, in the southern half - do try to come! I'll understand if those of you in Australia and New Zealand find they're unable to make it... |

Doubt I can make it from Ireland, well I can but it gets complicated, unless I sleep like Ted ; Only in the middle ok for me. |

Of course if the Archduke has WiFi and someone brought a laptop with web cam, we might be able to share some part of the evening with those a little further afield! Ted (Off now for a very long weekend.) |

I would love to come but even early evenings are problematic for logistical reasons. Anyhow have fun and pull a cracker for me. If you ever have a lunchtime meet up I will be there defola! _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Re: The traditional HTCIP Christmas party
The distance from the airport to the restaurant isnt the biggest issue here Gordon lol. The real problem is the distance from my airport to your airport !!!
Certainly sounds like its going to be a great night and I would dearly love to be able to join you all. If Ted's concept with the WIFI and cam works out..then count me in..I will certainly be attending (although it would probably be at some ungodly hour in the morning here lol) _________________ Wicked Witch of the West:I'll get you, my pretty! Re: The traditional HTCIP Christmas party
Reason beyond doubt, I will be there, trusting Ryanair and thanks to Gordon for suggesting (pushing) some less leafy options where to crash-out. My local friend will accommodate me as always (I was not sure before). Looking forward to meeting all that can make it and if possible a virtual link to those that can't. Thanks for organising Gordon Trevor |

Re: The traditional HTCIP Christmas party
Good to see that a fair number will be there. Looking forward to meeting Eva and David. Sorry you can't make it Josephine. I am working on the WiFi idea but I don't hold out too much hope at the moment unless someone has a mobile phone connection. It's such a shame that they don't build airports much closer together, Anna. _________________ Why is there only one word for ‘Thesaurus’? |

Doubt this helps. Weatherspoons have wifi and some coffee shops. I think we can get the restuarnt to give us a connection for this special one off occation maybe. Update: according to the web the resturant does seem to have WiFi. |

That sounds more in keeping with the wordwide nature of a forum. Have an online conference where everyone can attend. (barring time difference) ![]() |
