Another automatic photo processor
PhotoLemur This app uses 'intelligent' algorithms to post process your photos automatically. My interest in Photoshop is much less for post processing than it is for compositing so I am not tempted to take the free trial on this at the moment. This 'intelligent' photo processor does it all for you. Not sure about that unless it gives you freedom to adjust what it does as well. From the examples on their site it seems to be best at livening up flat images creating a colourful 'happy snap' look. The risk is it's going to de-mystify atmospheric pictures. It can be used as a standalone or as a PS plug in - Mac and PC. As a plug in the idea is to use it for initial adjustments and then tune to your personal requirement in PS. Maybe one of you who is more interested in post processing than I might be tempted to give it a try. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |

Re: Another automatic photo processor
In the end I took the time to download and try it out of simple curiosity. It took me about ten minutes and as many pictures to decide it is a complete waste of money. To 'improve' an image you need a target. Here the target is quite clearly the bright, clear and colourful look favoured by the majority of non photographers. It certainly helps flabby or washed out images that haven't been well exposed. But it can't tell the difference between that and something perfectly exposed taken in flat light that is supposed to be low contrast. By the same token it has a tendency to try to fill in the shadow detail in low key shots, such as night shots, where the shadows are supposed to be deep. Obviously it can't possibly know what you intended when you took the picture so average pictures that are bit below par will be made average ........ and it ends about there. The free auto correction tools in your OS's standard photo app will probably do just as good a job. _________________ The subtlety and conviction of any Photoshop effect is invariably inversely proportional to the number of knobs on it ....... |
