Re: Load up the Pen Path
Hi, can anyone help with the final stage please? This exercise has definitely been the hardest so far for me and i'd love to complete it. I just can't figure out how to remove the white so that the red is left, completing the union jack. I appreciate that the last post was many years ago but if there is anyone still out there that could help i would greatly appreciate it. Cheers, Chris

Re: Load up the Pen Path
You're right, this is a tricky exercise - but satisfying when you finish it.

To make the red on the roof, you need to modify the outline you drew with the Pen tool to make the blue areas, or just start again with a new outline. Draw the shape of the red just inside the white area, then simply use Backspace to delete the selection from the white part of the roof.

I think 6 years between posts on a single thread is some kind of record!

Re: Load up the Pen Path
Thank you for the swift reply Steve.

I'm as stubborn as they come but this has me heading for the window with my Mac in hand.

I still can't achieve the final outcome so am going to leave it for the time being....just to keep my sanity!

Will there be further exercises in the future that may help with this and also, would the fact that i'm using CS6 make a major difference?

Re: Load up the Pen Path
Using CS6 will make no difference whatsoever to this exercise.

This isn't a regular tutorial, in that I didn't design it specially for the book. It's a case study, which means it's an explanation of a live job that I did for a newspaper - the steps are there just to show the process involved.

Don't worry if you found it very tricky, you weren't alone! Skip it, and move on.
