First of all, massive apologies for not replying sooner - been rather busy. Thanks to everyone for their help - and time! The results (finally) can be seen at cberry.co.uk/posters Not all my own work (the website, that is) but any feedback, as always, is welcome. Chris |

Chris, I'm glad you got your site working. Your posters look really good. A couple of things to think about for your site. You need a home button somewhere on your pages. Your email address depends on the client having email on their pc. A lot of people don't have. If you want people to be able to send comments to you, you should give them the option of filling in a form. Dave. |

Re: Waaaaaaaay off topic!
Hi Dave Intersting point about email - although the clients I deal with are normally companies, and they have email on their pc. Will think about a form, however. I had thought about a home button, but once they're in the portfolio pages there's nothing to go 'home' for, if you see what I mean, but their is a link to the main cberry site if they want it. If people start out at the home posters page, do they need to go back to it? They can just flick through the posters. I'm not sure. C |

Hi Dave, It's common practice to put a link to the home page on the banner (in this case your name), at the top of each page, I tend to use this if it's available. Concerng forms, don't these depend on your ISP having appropriate server technology installed? and is the delivery of the information to the webmaster straightforward? rufus |

Chris, True, there may not be much on your home page for users to go back to, but it is pretty much standard to have it, and users expect it. It's usually best to provide the option. Then they can click it or not, as they please. (It makes the user feel in control). Rufus, Yes you need to have support from the web server to process forms. Creating a form in HTML is pretty easy, but the web server must know what to do with it when it gets it. Most ISPs have support, although if this is what is known as a personal web page, then it might be missing. Usually for things like receiving email feedback an ISP will provide a method of doing it without needing any server side scripting. Everything gets specified in the form. You would need to check with your ISP to see if this is the case. If you know your target audience has email, the linking to email isn't a problem. On the other hand, if its a simple thing to add, then you don't want to miss an opportunity. |
