'Layer via cut'
I am trying to create a moving flame effect for a logo I am trying to create for the Hillsborough Justice Campaign. In the tutorial it tells me to ...well here is the extract below

"Step 4: Now we can start preparing the fire for animation. Drag a horizontal guide to the exact centre of your canvas and select the top half of your canvas. Right-click on your layer in the layer palette and choose 'Layer via cut'. Drag the top half of your image to the bottom and the bottom half to the top. It should look like the image on the left."

For the life of me I cannot see anywhere the option 'Layer via cut' which is frustrating. I am working with Photoshop CS. The tutorial does not mention which version of Photoshop it was created with. I wonder if anyone can shed any light on it or provide any advice.

All help greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Chris
I am assuming you are using the rectangular marquee tool to select the upper half of the canvas. Once you have those marching ants visible you can right click on the actual active layer in the layer palette which should show the "Layer Via Cut" option. You can also go to Layer>New>Layer via Cut, once the marquee tool has made the selection active. Hope this helps you out.
