transform selection
on p. 13 in the hot tip it says something about a transform selection tool. is that only in photoshop full, or is it also in elements, and if so where. because there is no quickmask in elements and im looking for an alternative _________________ - There are 2 secrets in business, 1) dont reveal all your secrets..... |

There are two ways to do this, the first is to transform the selection itself. There is another slightly convoluted way, which I used for a PSP tutorial. Create a temporary layer above the main image and draw a selection (I'm assuming it's the car, so use the elliptical marquee), fill it with colour - red is actually a very good colour to use, although it could be anything. Drop the opacity to 50%, so you can see the layer below. Now, Deselect (CTRL+D) and hit CTRL+T to enter Free transform, you can now resize the circle to fit the hubcap. Once you're done, set the transform (Enter) and CTRL+Click the layer, you should now have a perfect selection. Delete the temporary layer and select the main layer again. _________________ A happy-go-lucky chap, always dressed in black |

Actually, there is a sort of equivalent of QuickMask in Elements - it's the Selection Brush, which you can set to show either the 'marching ants' selection or a QM-style red overlay. It's rather more clumsy than the full PS implementation, though. David's solution is a very good one. But Einstein, you're doing such good work you really should persuade someone to get you a copy of the full Photoshop! |

I use the selection brush somtimes, what it can't do is things like pg. 13 (transformations), For that David's idea is perfect because its basically the same thing as quickmask just without the automations About getting full photoshop, while I know this is a somewhat touchy subject, do you think that it is better to wait till cs2 comes out. anyway if you'r using cs2 then what are u doing with your cs license, or did you exchange it for cs2 _________________ - There are 2 secrets in business, 1) dont reveal all your secrets..... |
