P. 12: QuickMask3: Step #7,8, 9: Unable to repeat the exercise
I followed the exercise, step by step, but some how I was not able to product a perfect lozenge selection as in step #8, 9. The rectangle shape remained the same. Moved the circle to both ends of circle, but it did not provide me a perfect lozenge selection. Did I miss some steps? |

Be sure and follow the steps carefully. I double checked for you, and they are correct. If you still can't get it, let us know where it appears to go wrong, and maybe someone can help. |

I followed step by step from #7 to #9, but I still cannot get rid of the rectangle. The circle remained the same. Feel so ignorance as how I can subtract/delete the rectangle.........It must be something so obvious and I failed to execute, even though I followed the steps. |

Ha, it looks like you have a selection tool active (marquee, lasso and so on). Use the Move tool instead. |

Should I give up by now? This is so frustrated. These were the steps I did: - Draw a rectangle of the same height as the hub cap - Enter QuickMask - Elliptical Marquee tool with Shift key to produce a circle - Switch to Move tool - Alt + Shift to move circle to one end of the rectangle - Alt + Shift again to move circle to the other end of the rectangle - QuickMask again Instead of a perfect lozenge selection, I had a rectangle dancing ants with no pink color of QuickMask. |

ha, I have tried your steps and I think that the problem is that you should draw the circle in step 3 inside the rectangle, touching the top and bottom edges. Then when you do step 5 you will duplicate part of the rectangle and place it at the end. rufus |

Rufus: I drew the circle INSIDE the rectangle with QuickMask on (pink area) touching top and bottom edges. Nothing was deviated from the instruction. Is there any other set up in my tool box? Simple steps according to the instruction, but why my result is not the same. I feel so stupid & frustrated!!!! Grhhhhhhhh |

Rufus: Finally, it works. Thank you for being patient. Found out the mistake I made. I did not move the circle ALL the way to the end of the rectangle, because my rectangle ended at the edge of the frame. I had to move the rectangle frame all the way to the left side of the car, in order to have the circle passed the edge of the rectangle on both sides. I am so happy now. Thank you everybody. |

Hello So for step 7, the rectangle is to be drawn with the Rectangle marquee tool after which I should enter Quick Mask. Am I correct? regards |

Yes, that's right. Alternatively, you could enter Quickmask and then draw the rectangle, and fill it with black (it will show up as red). |
