Printer Color Settings
So most of the projects I am involved with require me to print out proofs. I been using CMYK Pantone Swatches for quite sometime just the way I always do it (have done it in the past). My question really is, what's the easiest most accurate way to get the Pantone Swatch to match your monitor colors? I know I'm in good shape when I use the swatch, but I hate how it looks on the monitor, but when it prints out it prints perfect like the Pantone. I if anyone has any tips or suggestions on making my monitor fit the swatch that would be ace! Thanks! |

Re: Printer Color Settings
Monitors vary widely, and can even be affected by differences in components, and even age. You really need to get a good calibration device that can calibrate your monitor by measuring the actual output of the monitor. A good place to start is Pantone's web site. |

Re: Printer Color Settings
Here and the office and also at home we are using LCD Monitors and I heard calibration could make it worse or not make a difference at all. I'll check out the more pricer devices for calibration on that Pantone website. Thanks for the help. |

You can calibrate LCD monitors as well as the CRT monitors. My calibration device is very old, but even it has an attachment for the LCD monitors. The first time I used it I was really surprised at how much better my colors looked. |

Yeah, they are kind of proud of that stuff. You might be able to find a bargain on ebay. |

Re: Printer Color Settings
Snowden, I have the crapiest of LCD displays. I got a brand new Spyder2 suite calibration kit from Ebay for 93$, duties and delivery included. I'm in Canada and got it from the States. I was amazed at the result. I use a print house from which I get a profile for their printer. When I use the ctrl-Y proof command, I get very close results. Worth the effort, believe me. Now I just have to get a better/bigger monitor and good printer. _________________ |
