PROBLEMS WITH QUICK MASK
Hi,

I just started to work myself through the book and I have the following problem with Quick Mask: When I have selected something and move it to another layer, the new layer is transparent.
I tried various things, like changing the opacity in the Quick Mask options but nothing seems to work. I always get the same transparent image.

I'm not a photoshop pro - so probably there's an easy solution - but it would be great if someone could help me with it.

Thanks and greetings,
ballad.

Re: PROBLEMS WITH QUICK MASK
When you say it's transparent, do you mean the new layer is empty? Or just at a low opacity? If you're able to post a screen shot showing the image and the layers palette, this would help.

Re: PROBLEMS WITH QUICK MASK
Yes, I mean it has a low opacity.

I just dragged the image besides the layers palette and did a screen shot of the two together.
Because I had already deleted what I had done before, I just selected the head very roughly to show how it looks like.

OK - this looks to me as if you're selecting the QuickMask with either (a) a brush set to grey, rather than black, or (b) a brush set to black, but at an opacity lower then 100%. Check and try again!

Re: PROBLEMS WITH QUICK MASK
Yes, that was the problem.
I was using a brush set to red. When I changed the colour to black it worked perfectly.

I have to admit that I've never used the quick mask before. Normally I work with the extraction filter (not sure if this is the official English translation, as I use a German version).

Anyway, thank you very much for helping me.

Greetings,
ballad.
