making text paths (circles)
Im sure this is really easy and its probably in the book (so sorry if im asking a stupid queston). But i cant work out how to make a text path ! i was wanting to have a go at another challenge from a different site (making logos) but i fell at the first hurdle because i couldnt work out how you make text go round in a perfect circle. I know how to arch the text and generally warp it ect. But how do you make it follow a full circle, ie i have a round logo and want the text neatly going round the outside of the circle, being read in a clockwise fashion. Also how do i put a little comment under my name in the forum, at the minute i just a little star
thanks in advance Johnny |

Re: making ext paths (circles)
Hi Johnny ....first you need to select elipse from the shape tool box it's under the type tool. and on the tool options bar at the top of the page, select the middle icon ..paths. then draw a circle by holding down shift and dragging to the desired dimentions. next select the type tool and hover over the path of the circle, you'll notice that the I of the type tool now has a line through it. this means you can put type on that path, now its just a matter of clicking on the path and typing as usual..hope this helps. P.s. if your type upside down....before you commit your type hold down command/ctrl and hover the cursur over your text there now should be two black arrows one facing left and one right .....now click and hold and drag above the path .... _________________ regards Jason |

The reader titles are "awarded" for outstanding work. This is not an absolute, competitive process: you don't need to reach a set standard. But I watch everyone's work here, and when someone submits a Friday Challenge entry that, in my opinion, shows a significant improvement in their own talent, I'll think up a title to recognize their achievement. |
