Question about animation + Gifs...Maiden ?
Hi all just a quick question about animation, well gifs really. I remember from years ago there was a programme made by Ulead (i think) called gif animator, maybe you remember it ? My question really is simply whats the easiest but yet most powerful animation tool, on a gif level (i mean im not talking 3DS or anything like that) would it be photoshop or are there still dedicated apps out there specially for this ? I always use Adobe ImageReady and still have it loaded - I've found nothing better for total control of optimisation and intergration with Photoshop. IR is a layer based animator so takes some getting used to as opposed to Ulead Gif Animator which is more like a flick book animator (if I remember rightly) meaning you mostly have to import a series of animated frames and objects from another program and compile into a GIF. hope that helps but then I'm baised - RIP ImageReady I will have to get used to the new timeline animation in Photoshop CS3. |

You can view it in the old frames style as well. _________________ It must be Thursday, I never could get the hang of Thursdays |

ok thanks for the advice i will have a play around if i can get hold a copy of image ready, though if i understand your reply IR is now on its way to the 'old app graveyard' ahh well i have cs3 anyways so i'll practice with that, along with learning everything else. My to do list is getting way out of control lately |

What about Flash? This is a GIF exported from flash.

Paul funny you mention that as really, ultimately i would rather learn flash than simple gif animation though i appreciate there is a lot more to it. The main reason i want to learn it in the first place is for my website (when i actually get that far), but i would much rather use flash as personally i think it has a more professional look and feel to it. Trouble is im only just starting out on photoshop, but i hope in the future to learn illustrator, dreamweaver, flash and acrobat at a competant level. but one step at a time i guess, though i feel myself that me and photoshop are somehow gelling better than i thought. I only wish i had done this sooner considering (like steve) i have been into computers since ZX80 days ! |
