making a Path
hi i“m trying to understand the pen tool, is very tricky you know...well i was wondering if it is possible to make a Path from a selection? i know how to do the opposite

Hi vicho, Make your selection active. switch to the paths palette and hit the button at the bottom that looks like a circle with two arms coming down (ought to be next to the new path button). Et voilą ! |

Yes, it is possible to make a Path from a selection. Make your selection. Then, open the paths palette (if it isn't already open). There is a "make workpath from selection" icon at the bottom (looks like a circle with a path showing the handles). Click on that to make the path using the default tolerance. Alt-click on it to set the tolerance. Or, you can use the fly out menu on the paths palette. If you search on "path from selection" in the help, you will get the help entry. I seldom use this method as it isn't as precise as going about creating the path in the normal way. Once you get the hang of the pen tool, you can draw the path very quickly. |
