drop shadow
I made a layer on an object, and then added a drop shadow to it. How do I erase parts of the drop shadow? Seems like the eraser tool only erases the object. I think I need to create a layer for just the drop shadow, but have not stumbled upon the combination to do that. Second question - How do you use the search function. It appears there is no relationship to the search query and the subjects brought up. Thanks |

Re: drop shadow
You can't erase parts of a drop shadow as it takes its form from the parent layer. You can, however, go to the Layer menu and select Layer Style > Create Layer which will put the shadow on a layer of its own (rasterised, of course) which can be masked or erased. As for the Search function - I assume you mean in the forum - it can be a little hit and miss but does work a lot of the time. _________________ If you hold on to the past, sooner or later you'll lose your grip. |

Re: drop shadow
Another way of controlling a Drop Shadow (or any Layer Effect) without rastering the Layer Effect is to create a Layer Mask of the object you're adding a Drop Shadow to then click on the FX button at the bottom of the Layer Palette and select "Blending Options" and where it says "Advance Blending" check the box that says "Layer Mask Hide Effects" You can now use a Brush set to white with the Layer Mask selected to paint back in the parts of the Drop Shadow (or Layer Effect) where you want. |
