mac novice confused by symbols in the book
ok, i feel pathetic admitting this, but i'm confused regarding the shortcut symbols in the book for mac. i'm just on the "natural selection" section about changing font shapes, and i can't for the life of me figure out #9. is that "shift" and "left arrow" or...? I've been trying just about everything, but I can't get the foreground color to fill in my marching ant shape. help! thanks. -adena |

I am also a novice, but getting the hang of the book. Could not find what you are referring to. What version and page are you on? |

On the PC the shortcut to fill with foreground colour is alt-backspace (hold alt down and press the arrow key [top right of the main keyboard]), on the mac hold down that peculiar option key and press delete. |

Rufus is correct, the long arrow symbol is the backspace key next to +/=. _________________ If you hold on to the past, sooner or later you'll lose your grip. |

Re: mac novice confused by symbols in the book
This is because Mac users have always called that thing a Delete key, whereas PC users seem to think the Delete key only deletes forward, and that one's called the Backspace key. So to avoid confusion (ha!) I used the long left-pointing arrow, which should appear on everyone's keyboard. As a Mac user, adena, you'd call this the Delete key. And please, don't feel "pathetic" - that's what the forum is here for! Steve |
