Newbie needs advice.
Hey Guys, Great forum. A friend just gave me his old Wacom Intuos 1 tablet. Great, but unfortunately without a pen (lost). Can't seem to find any on Ebay. Any ideas? Know of anyone who has one? Cheers |

Tricky one. It's the pen that's the active (and so most expensive) part; it does all the work. The tablet just registers where the pen is. Wacom sell pens on their own, but frankly you're better off just going for a new Bamboo. |

Re: Newbie needs advice.
Thanks for the advice Steve, but Elliott has kindly offered to give me his old Graphire. Cool!!! On a separate note. I was working in the animation industry for about 8 years and I'm now looking to return to my artistic roots through Photoshop/Flash and traditional media. I'm keen on buying your books but I was concerned about the note that it required some previous knowledge. I have used PS before and I guess I'd consider myself relatively software literate. Do I need another book, and if so which would you recommend ? Cheers Steve ![]() |

Gopal, I bought Steve's book with no previous knowledge of photoshop apart from how to rotate and crop an image, and I found it really useful. A year after buying it, I'm now running a retouching business and using advanced techniques books. |

I got the third edition of Steve's book without any knowledge of PS either, in fact I'd the only computer graphics software I'd used before getting the book was MS Paint!!!! _________________ We made a promise we swore we'd always remember, No retreat no surrender |

The comments of Pierre in RAW conversions question below has a good suggestion for learning CS. Check it out. Have not tried the course but the outline looked great. |

Oh and I was in the English book shop in Belgium when i came across a book called "how to cheat in photoshop" a couple of years ago, i had never used ps before and bought steves book before buying the program. Highly recommended ![]() _________________ My fake plants died because I did not pretend to water them. |

Hey Elliott, What do you suggest ? If you tell me the postage, I'd be happy to reimburse you. How's that sound ? |
