Raw file capable cameras...
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone out there has done some research on digital cameras that take digital raw pictures. I was at a local electronics store and only found one.. it was a Cannon at about $445.00.

Any sugestions for a resonably priced raw file capable camera..?

I use the Fuji S3Pro for RAW amd my wife has the Nikon D80 for RAW and to be honest I like her D80 for RAW better. Fuji limits 3 RAW and takes forever to record. The D80 captures 6 before recording the images but much much faster. Smaller images in raw but just as good as the Fuji big ones.

have a look at this site:

You can put in a wish list, and also do a comparison between cameras.
An other option would be look for 2nd hand cameras.

Camera technology has moved drastically over the last four years and we're now looking at 10 fps with the latest Canon 1D 111. This does, of course, does come at a price though and you're looking at £thousands rather than £hundreds.

However, the pros and semi pros are always looking to update their gear and I've noticed that there are some great bargains to be had in second hand camera shops, so would suggest that Vibeke's idea is sound advice. I use a 10D and a 5D, both bought on introduction and I cringe when seeing what the bodies are now selling for. The 5D has almost halved and I saw a second hand 10D just recently for about £150. It's getting rather old now in technology terms, but it still takes a great picture, particularly using 'L' series lenses.

Most good camera dealers will offer a guarantee, so have a look around and see what's about.
