copyright symbol
I have created a metadata file in PS so I can import it into my files from bridge. I was watching a Russell Brown tutorial and in the copyright box he had a copyright symbol preceeding the text.
Anyone know how I can get a copyright symbol added to my other text?

Steve,

hold down the Alt key and press 0169 on the numeric keypad and let go of the alt key. ©

Re: copyright symbol
Ah, is that how those things work, Luis!

Thanks for that... I have always ended up using Windows Character Map, and searched (with my nose almost pressed against the monitor, because MS made the utility so damn small) and then tried several times to copy and paste!

Re: copyright symbol
Thanks Luis. How the heck do people learn about things like this?
Is there a secret society I need to belong to?
Thanks again, I really appreciate it!

Re: copyright symbol
Here's a cheat sheet full of symbols, etc, and codes to apply them. No secret society for me, just a smarter than me, wife.

Ha, ha!

No, its not a secret society thing, just an old fashion Dos/Windows thing. The trick of holding down the alt key and enter the numeric character code dates back to the days of DOS. (The operating system that came before windows). In those days, it was the only way to access what was then called the extended character set.

The problem with accessing the extended character set this way is, it isn't easy to remember. If you have MS-Word, It is easy to find the character in word and copy and paste it to where ever you need. The other way is to use the character map, although that method is very awkward.

Another resource, is here

Re: copyright symbol
Did you know that the copyright symbol is under Shapes in PS and you can scale to whatever size you need - or apologies if I've got the wrong end of the stick. See attached.

Re: copyright symbol
Just to add my 0.02c/0.02p: in case anyone needs to use the © symbol on a Mac, it's Opt+G.
