Missing shortcut CS4
I had a favourite shortcut for softening skin in earlier versions. CTRL+ALT+~ . In History it showed as 'load selection' .It selected the lighter areas at a low density, which could then be copied to a separate area and blurred. It doesn't work in CS4 and I can't figure out how to create that shortcut. First of all I can't find 'Load selection' in the list of shortcuts. I then thought I'd get clever and just give the same shortcut to something else in CS3, thinking it would show me what it would clash with. But get the message Alt+Ctrl+ cannot be assigned because it is used in channels palette to load the composite channel as a selection. Anybody got any ideas? I have placed a link in the Links part of the forum, where you can download a list of CS4 shortcuts. _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |

Re: Missing shortcut CS4
When I try that shortcut in CS3, I get the same thing that you describe, and it selects as you describe. But when I look in the pallette shortcuts, it doesn't show up. If I try to use that shorcut somewhere, I get the same message that you describe. If I save a new set of shortcuts and try to use it, I get that it isn't a valid shortcut. |

Yep, I tried to copy my old shortcuts to CS4, It didn't work at all, so I now slowly have to remake all the old ones when I miss them. This one is a mystery. The Cntr+ALt=~ is a very old one, I have used it for years. _________________ Perfect confidence is granted to the less talented as a consolation prize. |

Re: Missing shortcut CS4
Hi Vibeke, I figured out what that shortcut actually does. It sets your selection to the RGB channel. It is the same as Ctrl clicking, (or Cmd Click) on the image icon for the RGB channel in the channels pallet. From your description above it sounds like it is still assigned to do the same thing. (I don't have CS4 yet.) But since it doesn't work, the only way I can think of to assign it to a shortcut is to create an action, and then assign the action to a function key. I hope that this helps. |

Re: Missing shortcut CS4
In CS4, a number of shortcuts have been shuffled around. Cmd/Ctrl 1 now shows the image at 100%, Cmd/Ctrl 2 switches from a channel or a layer mask to the RGB layer. Cmd/Ctrl 3, 4 and 5 switch to the red, green and blue channels respectively (and they do this within adjustment dialogs too). Cmd/Ctrl ~ will now cycle through all open documents. So the shortcut you're looking for is alt ctrl 2, which will load the RGB channel as a selection. What's actually happening here is that it's treating the brightness information as if it were an alpha channel, so it's the brightest areas that are being loaded. |
