Step & Repeat Rotation (p.42 in CS3 book) - Help please
Hello all, I found the forum!

Since it's my 1st post here, I'll do a quick introduction.

My name's Jai, I'm married with 1 little boy (9 weeks old) and aspirations to "rediscover" my photography, and start a better career.
I studied Photography & Digital Imaging @ HND level 10 years ago. A bit of a joke really, since I think we did about 10 hours of "Digital Imaging" in the whole 2 year course!
Anyway, I'm trying to get my photography back on track after a big gap, and I bought the CS3 version of this book for Xmas, with the intention of teaching myself Photoshop properly.
I'm very impressed with the book, but sometimes things don't go as smoothly as Steve's explanations, and I struggle with some steps.

So to my problem :- (BTW - I'm a PC user with CS3)

Chapter 2 - Page 42 - Step & repeat rotation.

I've made the 1st small rectangle, and repositioned the centre marker appropriately, in order to drag the rectangle (using Free Transform), and do it in 15° or 30° steps.
It's step 4 that has me pulling my hair out! I hold Ctrl-Shift-Alt-T to repeat the transformation, but it doesn't make a copy like it should.

I'm wondering if I've fiddled with a setting somewhere? Any help much appreciated, and if I my problem get's solved then expect more posts begging for help! I bet this is a glaringly obvious mistake I'm making, and just goes to show how much I have to learn.

Regards,

Jai.

On step 4, you've moved the original marker. Did you then remember to undo that action? I missed the word 'undo' in the instruction when I did this one, and had the same result as you.

If this doesn't work, I'm not sure what to suggest, but I'm sure someone on here will be able to help.

Yes, this is still happening after "Undo". BTW - I've not used the file supplied on the DVD, but started my own from scratch.
I've just tried to use the supplied file, and I can't even enter Free Transform at all (using Ctrl-T) using that file.

Thanks for reply.

I’m taking a guess since I don't have CS3 nor the book

Once you created the rectangle, did you press Enter to get out of the Free Transform. Then when you hold down the Ctrl-Shift-Alt-T, this should make a copy and rotate the rectangle.

I'm sorry if this is not what you want to do.

No I did not press Enter, having tried that, it does indeed now make a copy, and I've just discovered the intended middle of the clock is way off centre!

But the copies are circulating at 30° intervals now, so thank you for solving that for me Luis.

I expect I'll be utilising this forum quite a bit then, lol.
