Drawing shapes without a fill
This is a really basic question for the pros out there so I am sorry if I am wasting the time of anyone who is kind enough to reply. I have the HowToCheatinPhotoshopCS2. I was learning the pen tool which I have some experience as I use it a LOT in Adobe Illustrator. I basically want to draw a line but without a fill. For example drawing a circle showing only the rim but with no colour. I refer to the tutorial including using the pen tool to draw around the mug in the book (i.e. Natural Selection - Putting the pen into practice, pg 1 . Now I can easily draw around the mug but a fill colour appears. I just want the outline to appear. I have tried all kinds of things but a fill colour always appears. Can anyone PLEASE give me a hand? Thank you. |

Re: Drawing shapes without a fill
You have the Pen tool set to Shapes mode, rather than Paths mode. This is set by the row of three buttons on the Options Bar when the Pen tool is active. The middle button is Paths mode:
And please, please don't ever think that a question is too easy or too trivial! We'd far rather you asked a question here than spent hours scratching your head over something that's easily solved. Steve |

Thank you Steve. I have got it working now and I will ask questions no matter how trivial they may seem. Thanks also for the quick response. Cheers Udeet |
