need help improving a low quality image.
I have a tif image which is about 1 mb in size , too big to attach. I did my best to try to sharpen it but it could still use improvement. If anyone thinks they can do better, I can email the image. It's not good quality. It was originally a smaller jpg enlarged more than double using Irfanview. Then it was saved as a TIF and opened in Photoshop where Auto Contrast was applied and then Hard Light and some sharpening. But it's still on the blurry side. Just don't know what else to try or if it is even possible to maker it better. |

Ok attached is the original which was just 145 x 145 and then enlarged to 600 X 600 with Irfanview which someone told me was better than Photoshop for enlarging. ![]() |

Re: need help improving a low quality image.
Hi jenn, the original is a very low size and resolution so I don't think it's possible to get it pin sharp. I've had a go however and here is the result. I enlarged it in stages of about 25% to 900 x 900 to work on as this seems to work better than enlarging it in one go. After tidying up the image with the clone tool I sharpened it selectively using a high pass filter layer set to hard light with a layer mask, concentrating on the eyes nose and mouth. I did this at least 3 times with cloning, colour changes and other filters in between. I can send you the psd if you wish. rufus ![]() |

Re: need help improving a low quality image.
Hi Jenn. I don't know if you already tried this, but have you looked on any online music store to try to find the CD album cover? Have you tried looking on amazon.com for the cover? Here is what I found. Below is the before and after. The before indicated by the white outline (lower right), is what I found on amazon with a dimensions of 321 x 315. Then I enlarged it to 600 x 589. It is a lot better then trying to enlarge the small 145 x 145 picture. I hope this will give some ideas on where to look for this picture.

Thanks Luis, Steve and Rufus. You guys are so good! I couldnt find a larger one so I'm surprised you did Luis I had checked amazon and I didn't see it there. Good improvement. This is for a friend of mine and he will be very pleased And Steves good too, much better than what I was able to do. Same with Rufus, mine was not that good. I guess I still have a lot to learn. |

Re: need help improving a low quality image.
Jenn, Go to amazon.co.uk and search for Stephen Bishop Live!. When the search results appear, there are a total of 3 search results pages. I think it is on the second page #25 (Duo Music Exchange Presents: Live!). Click on the link and click on the image on the left side to get a larger picture. Copy or save this image and open it in photoshop. Please note that you will have to crop the picture to get rid of the white background. Luis |
