Weird icon problem
Just looking for a file and some of the "eye" photoshop icons seem to have been replaced by a red angular R shape - what does this mean ? Is it anything sinister ?
Any advice welcome _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Weird icon problem
That's odd. Can we have a screenshot?

Re: Weird icon problem
Even more oddly it isn't doing it now - although I notice that photshop files are now nearly all displaying as thumbnails although the display mode is set to icons (mind you it might have done that before) I was hoping someone would say "Oh thats just because you converted the RAW invective into parallel mode" or something similar - now I shall worry that I have caught a virus (although I scan regularly have firewall AEG protection etc) _________________ I'm not really bad - I just draw that way |

Re: Weird icon problem
Next time that happens Josephine, right-click on the offending icon, and select the Open With option and then select Photoshop CS4, CS3, or CS2. However, to permanently see all your familiar icons once again, you'll need to right click on the offending icon and click properties, and then select Opens With from the drop-down menu and again select Photoshop CS4/3/2. You'll notice that upon clicking apply all the icons change to the familiar icon. Another thing if you have installed new photo-editing software that will hijack default settings too |

Re: Weird icon problem
I agree with Michael it is often done without really thinking when you install another program that uses image files it may come up with the question "Do you want to associate these file with such-and-such program" whatever the program happens to be. If you inadvertedly clicked ok to this then that program will change all your icons for those files to be linked to it rather than Photoshop. It's rather annoying especially when you had everything set up as you want it and now you find that png, jpeg, gif etc. won't open in the right program. As Michael said right-click one of the files and use "Open With" and scroll down to "Chose Program..." highlight the program that you want to use, or Browse for it if it's not listed then check the box that says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" then click "Ok" and that change all those file type to use the selected program, you will have to repeat this for all the image file types you want to be associated with Photoshop again. |
