Not a problem but a question
Somewhere on this site (I think) when I have been wandering about, I have seen a book on Photoshop mentioned by our esteemed site owner but not by him which he highly recommended. I already have two versions of HTCIP and am a great fan of the weekly challenge though sadly not able to participate at present.

Can anyone help me here?

Many thanks.

Re: Not a problem but a question
Could it have been Adobe Photoshop CS4 for Photographers, perhaps? That's certainly a tremendous source of detailed information, by my friend Martin Evening - who knows more about Photoshop than just about anyone on the planet.

Unless you're thinking of my own Art & Design in Photoshop, of course...

Thanks very much for your reply Steve. That's the guy, Martin Evening. I recently purchased your new Art & Design book and will be looking at this and other PS delights such as Martin's book when the teaching tails off.

I would love to know what you think of Katrin Eismann's books on restoration and composites? I am being encouraged by some American friends into purchasing one or two of her books. Not sure though.

Thanks

Sophie

Hi Sophie

Of course, I can't speak for Steve, but I have a couple of Katrin's books, and on the subjects of restoration and retouching, I find that her books are very good. But they are not books for a beginner with photoshop, They move very rapidly into advanced topics.

I still think that Steve does a better overall job of explaining the basics of using photoshop. If I were to teach a class on Photoshop, I would want Steve's book as my class text book.

Hi Dave, Steve
Sorry! I didn't mean to be so tactless. As it so happens I purchased the CS3 version of HTCIP not long ago. I have helped generate some sales of this and the Art & Design book across the pond among some photoshop acquaintances, not that the publishers will have noticed a sudden rise in sales over there!
