Cursor retrieval
When an image is opened in photoshop window, you can use the cursor freely for all operations. When a tool is chosen, the cursor changes shape according to the tool chosen. After the job is done it is not possible to reverse it and get back the cursor again. It is available only when we want to save or close the image or choose another tool. Earlier I posted this problem. Someone suggested convert it to Move Tool. I request someone more conversant than me in photoshop work to please suggest how one can change tool logo into cursor logo for use in the same window without closing the image.

Re: Cursor retrieval
If the Caps Lock key is on, the cursor will change to a cross hair for precision work. Is this the effect you see? If so, release Caps Lock.

If it's something else, this could be a PC rather than a Photoshop problem.

Re: Cursor retrieval
When you move the windows cursor into the canvas (assuming a picture that does not occupy the entire screen) it turns to a tool cursor.

I think what he is asking for is how to return to the default cursor that you see on the background - just a white arrow.

Re: Cursor retrieval
Dear Mr. Administrator,

I do not use the shortcut Cap Key Lock. What I mean is when I choose a tool option to work on an image like selection, painting, I am unable to convert it back to cursor without closing the image. The arrow cursor appears only when a different tool is chosen or one is about to close or save the image. I think this is PS and nor a PC problem. May be photoshop themselves have not made a provision for such reversal. As an expert on photosbhop, I want you to tell me whether it is so or it can be solved in photoshop itself

Re: Cursor retrieval
Why do you want the basic operating system cursor?

The default arrow tool in Photoshop is at the top.

Isn't this what you mean?

No, I suggested that earlier. As I read it he wants the return to the white arrow that is default arrow of MS. Have experimented with PS but don't see any way to do it.

Cursor seems to always be the last tool used. See my post above.

Re: Cursor retrieval
I think I know what he means now.

Does he mean that even when he's moved outside the image drawing area the mouse pointer remains that of the last tool used. So he's clicking on menus with his pointer possibly looking like a pencil?

Maybe a Shift+CTRL+ALT as he starts up Photoshop would help that.
